Let's chat about maps guys .....

1) BF2 is an old game at the end of its life.

2) Old games at the end of their life cycle are VERY tough to attract new players, since all the folks who are still playing it have a few set servers and they don't usually change.

3) Strike is FAR and AWAY the busiest most popular map for BF2 at any time of the day. It is always 5 or 5 times more popular than the number two map. We are where I have been with many other servers at the end of their life cycle. When a game is new you can run more maps, and as its popularity wanes you whittle down the map list to the most popular ones, or most popular one.

So this often comes down to this question.

Do we want to play several maps and have 6-10 players most of the time (remember we need 8 players to start the game) ??

Or do we want to run only Strike, and maybe one other and have 30-64 players ??

IOW is it more fun to play the game, or play lots of maps ????

My preference here will be to run Strike and one other map, then rotate that map ever day or so, and see if we can find a second map that does not empty us out.

Or maybe we try a Special Forces server ??(I absolutely LOVED that game, and the maps were fantastic)...

I like Wake too, but i don't mind seeing the rotation stay as it is for the moment. We held quite a crowd last night for a decent amount of time.

I'm not a fan of Wake myself, never have been even back to BF1942. I'm for whatever gets us going and keeps us going. I'd rather be playing an actual round then just hanging out waiting for that 8th person to show up.

Personally, I wouldn't mind switching to SF. I always preferred it to vanilla BF2.

Well I hope you guys settle on something. I just got off the phone with my wife and she is out of town shopping. They don't have the SINGLE game of BF2 but they have the whole collection for $39.00. I had 40 dollars to spend from the allowance she gave me out of my own paycheck. My intention was to pick up the BF2 single for 10 bucks and send the rest to Cainslair, but I am not that lucky and it'll be a couple more weeks before I can donate.

My point is, IF we are not going to have any maps with aerial vehicles in the rotation then I won't need to spend the money. The only reason I would purchase it is so that I could fly a chopper or a jet now and then. The bigger the map the better.

Not trying to be a DICK about it and I apologize if it sounds like it, but I have COD4 and tanks are nice but not one of the main reasons I'd buy the game. Maybe moe will give me his game since he hates Bf2.

I'll wait before I open the complete Battlefield box until we see what is going to happen.

It's been so long since I've played BF2 that any maps are good with me. Like I've said..still trying to find a copy of SF. Probably going to have to order it off the net.

I like ALL of the maps too, some just suck less than others, but I will play any of them. But if there is none that have flying.. and unless something has changed the Karkand map was soldiers and tanks only. As long as there is one map in rotation that has choppers and jets, I'm happy.
