I'm going to throw in what might come off as a complete jerk or whatever but please understand that is not my intention.

I believe that out of respect to those that have served... you should only use military ranks in your name if you have actually earned that rank while a member of the armed forces of your respective country.

However, as stated above, that is entirely my opinion on the matter.
