Punishment should be swift, certain and severe. Public executions should be brought back.

On a lighter note, it was fun watching him play, he had some good moves. ! I was laughing part way through it.

Children used to slaughter sheep, watch animals get slaughtered, attend hunting trips as children, and even see men duel in the streets of towns that grew too quickly following 1812.

And yet, they didnt become mass murderers, but again comparably that kind of violence would be no different for that time to ours.

The parents make the difference, not the content.

lol, I'm not offened Hammy since apparently i'm the only one who voice of reasoned, There is a topic in The Battle Grounds that I'm highly offened but I'll just do whats best and stay out of it. But I am awstrucked by "this" topic. A 4 year old shouldn't even be playing this game. They should be watching sesame street, reading rainbow, dora the explorer, At 4 year old, they are at the age where they take everything around them and learned from it. Kids these days is all they want to do is play video games or watch TV. Kids do mimic what they see.

The idea of violence and children is a myth.
Its not a myth nor a fact, It never has and never will but it has been proven in the past few years. If you follow the GTA history, there has been several incidents cause of the game.... Granted, they are at the age where they "should" had know right from wrong. Lets go back in time to Beavis and Butthead era on MTV. Several boys playing with lighters cause they said they saw them play with lighters on Beavis and Butthead.

As far as hunting trips, watching animals get slaughter and 1812 stuff, that is a different subject as it is something they have been taught and grown around. It also lies within parenting and/or a way of life. I went on to some invited hunting group trips with my boss. Total 6 of us, everyone but 3 of us like it. We were all inner city boys who never went hunting. Everyone else enjoyed it cause they been hunting all there life. its not proven, its just something that I had observed.

I'm very surprised to see this even beeing approved by fellow Cain'ers yet we tell gamers to watch the language cause of minors playing? I understand we have 13 and 9 year old's playing but a 4 year old? Come-on now... That is why I said in my other post;"I guess since your watching him play." Granted, we can't control who play behind that screen. Atleast the parents are interacting with the child but, give the boy a Mario game and post kid playing it on Youtube.

By reading the other gamers praise comments here on Cains and that "haters" comment which I my add, people always take that word out of content and don't know what a hater is especially since I play on Cains and am not jealous of a certain gamer or individual skills and on the Youtube comments, apparently i'm the minor with the view on this subject.

              Hey all,

thanks for the props and lubbing. I told my lil' boy that he made some new friends on Cain's Lair hehehe

Now going back to the subject of whether I am an irresponsibly parent or not. I guess it can be seen as irresponsibility of mine of letting my son play a mature rated game. Even with the gore taken out, the idea my son is shooting people online in a game can be controversial. I appreciate your concerns and certainly have a right to express your opinion.

The way I look at it, is I see no difference in whether me and my son are running around with toy guns, blasting aliens/zombies/bad guys, or playing online games together. Like Caddys83 stated, and I agree with this statement... good parenting is when you spend time with them and do their activities with them.

Now my son does more than play CoD4/WaW. He is going for his blackbelt in tae kwon do this spring, he knows how to speak 3 languages, we read books together, play Star Wars, watch movies, watch Dora/Diego/Spongebob/etc.. together, run and around, wrestle, play with puppies, go to parks/zoos, go to movies, do homework, do art projects, spend time at libraries, play board games, and other usual 6 year old son/father stuff. :-)

Just remember, there are many kids who grew up and saw violence first hand espeically those who grew up in WWI/WWII and you do not see them as mass murdering psychos out there. It is unfortunate that war/violence is part of the human makeup but my boy knows the difference between real life and what is in gaming.

I appreciate your concern and it is good to hear reason and opinions no matter how uncomfortable or controversial. It is great to see mature gamers and the like congregate in a hobby we can all share together.

So I'll get off my soapbox but i wanted to make it clear my son has many interests and one of them is playing with his daddy online to "pwn" bad guys. :P

Oh yeah just a little history of my son's gaming...

I taught him how to play games when he was 16 months old. He played Tribes2, World of Warcraft, and other multiplayer games. But he really developed his skill in keyboard/mouse coordination when he was 2 1/2 by playing Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Battlefield 2, CoD2, and Prey with his mother.

Anyways hope to see you guys in CoD4 and WaW. Btw, what CoD4 servers are you guys on?

Im not sure that we have a COD4 server up anymore Maxi. It used to be up for a while but now that COD5 is out i think its shut down for good. All the regulars have moved on to cod5 including me because it is hard to keep 2 servers especially 2 different game servers popullated at the same time.
