    cod4 and steam

ok you can buy cod4 on steam. my question is: if i buy cod4 at bestbuy or whatever does it automatically associate itself with my steam? i have steam and love it, but would rather not take forever to download it.

No it does not auto associate

I always prefer to have tangible product when spending $50!

You can go right ahead and have fun with that cardboard box and plastic disk. I'll have fun playing with the same 1's and 0's without having to worry about lost CD's or disks in the drive.

Let me clarify though...Steam is honestly the ONLY one I trust at this point. Most of the other download services have certain limits that turn me off, like limited downloads or overly invasive DRM.

Steam games are tangible enough for me because I can back them up, carry them around on an external, and reinstall them anywhere. I'm not worried about losing my games ever, or at least as long as I'll ever care to play them. Plus I can always procure another copy if I do happen to lose the digital version. This far outweighs the lack of a physical, tangible media (in my mind at least).

And if I'm ever feeling empty from not having physical media, I can always burn a copy and stick it in a blank case

I trust buying stuff from steam as well and haven't had any problems with it. I have also associated a few games purchased elsewhere with Steam, which makes the update process for the game automatic. Plus, it shows when you are playing the game and allows you to join your friends' games. I tried to register COD4 (which I received as a gift) with Steam, but it didn't recognize the Key that came with the game. Really irritated me.

                          Just a question...

Wouldnt it be possible to install COD4 to the steam folders and make it recognized by steam? Not sure if this would work, but just thought it was worth asking

Just bring up Steam - Bring it to the smaller window - Go Games - Activate a product on steam.

You will most likely need you CD key. I am not sure but I think you can add any game but I know you can add COD4 because they support it.

That's what I did, but when I entered the CD Key Steam didn't recognize it. I actually tried 3 or 4 times.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
