    Sabotage

Cain - any chance of adding this style?

This where there is a bomb and each side tries to move it to the opposing team's area.

I found this to be even more fun than HQ. Definitely a little more team work required to get the bomb carrier to the enemy position.

    Other people's thoughts on S&D?

You're describing Sabotage, not Search & Destroy. Sabotage has 1 bomb, each team has a bomb site to defend, and they have to fight over who controls it.

Search & Destroy is a slightly similar mode with some notable exceptions. In S&D, one team is on offense and gets the bomb, and the other team is on defense and must protect two bomb sites. The REAL difference between the two is that S&D is a one-life-to-live mode like CS, where if you die, you're out till the end of the round. Sabotage allows infinite respawns.

I actually enjoy Sabotage quite a bit, but it unfortunately requires a LOT of teamwork to really play well, which it seems is hard to come by in this game.

BAH!! You are correct. I did get it wrong. Yes, PLEASE let's try Sabotage.

S&D is to much like CS:S.

Now if a Admin would kindly change the Topic Title for me to Sabotage, I would greatly appreciate it.

I like it better than HQ. But the only problem is it needs your team working as your team, and I already see a bunch of people just running around killing people in headquarters and the other team capturing/destroying the HQ.

But I'd love to try it. I took a break from the lair last night and tried other game types and I think Sabotage might be a favorite for me

Yeah, I found sabotage to be fun too. And this being Cain's Lair, I think we'll fall into teamwork around moving or stopping the bomb more easily than some of you seem to think.

It's definitely more run than HQ, and has more of a point to it. Plus, it offers more challenges to get.

The one thing that hurts HQ the most when comparing modes is the placement of the HQ and spawns. On "round" maps, the placement isn't too much of a problem, because you have multiple routes and the farthest distance to the HQ is never that far from any one spawn point. On long narrow maps (of which there are quite a few in COD4), HQ is an AWFUL game mode. You are completely powerless and at the mercy of where the game spawns your team and HQ. It's as if the game itself is the one deciding the match, instead of the actual fighting. And not being able to decide your own fate is not my idea of a good time Again, on round maps, this isn't an issue and HQ is great fun

Sabotage, on the other hand, works great on the longer maps. It also plays into the seeming natural tendency of players in this game to camp rather than push. Usually if your compatriots aren't going to help you push forward, at least there's a good chance they'll be somewhere near the bomb site to defend it (one could only hope). You still have the higher teamwork requirement to truly succeed at the game, but it IS a more organized/straight-forward game mode.

Sure Pace, we can try that out tonight perhaps, if I do not get home too late.
