    FPS on COD4

Alright here is my setup :

    Intel QX6700
    4gigs of ram
    1EVGA 8800GTX

    None are oced at all.

Playing COD4 with Max settings at 1920 resolution on a 24"inch monitor I am getting 60 fps...

Is that normal?? What are you guys getting??? Thanks...

Some things like soft particles, AA and high a high number of dynamic lights can really eat up performance, especially at that resolution.

I average about 120 fps @ 1440X900 with almost everything max except soft particles off, 2XAA and I think no dynamic lights. (peaks around 150-160, never really ever drops below 60 except in the most extreme of situations - grenades, gunfire, airstrikes and tons of players on screen all at once

Hmm, I sit at about 120fps. Drops down to 50 in a good smoky firefight.

              Intel Quad core at 2.4ghz
              4 gig of ram
              Dual 8800 GT cards

I am however running it under Vista at 1394x768 to fit my 32" monitor. I need to just dump vista and put XP on the box but I am too lazy, lol.

again, at 1440X900 with almost everything at max
Oh yeah, and no depth of field (it's fun to look at, but makes aiming a PITA sometimes, and hurts performance).

Note I went through and made some tweaks in the config to improve performance without degrading image quality (or with only marginal changes), but I can't recall everything I did

Like I said, avg of 120. only get higher when I'm staring at a wall or very little detail area. I'd say playing on Cain's 50 player TDM server I probably only avg 90 with all the action going on

You read my mind on the last comment. 90 FPs sounds about right.

With Grenade Spam all over the place I see mine go down as far as 20 sometimes.

I'm looking to invest after sitting out the marketplace for the last 3 years.
I love the fact that the only thing I have done in the last 3 years is upgrade the mem card and add 1 GB of memory

When you install FRAPS, be sure to either make your FRAPS screenshot button a different one from the default in COD or you'll get 2 screenshots, one from COD & from FRAPS. Personally I disable the game screenshot completely and only use FRAPS.

Also check the default Video key for FRAPS. Be sure it's not a key you use in game, like I did in BF2142....... I couldn't figure out why my FPS were going to crap when I tried to select someting.
                    A change of Pace.
