Air strikes and Helo's, Wait or Charge

Have you ever acquired an airstrike, and kept charging and go
directly to the Helo? I sure have, and it stinks.

Today, I even let up on one time on BLOC, but someone killed me and my
Martr killed another, so went to Helo anyway.. lolol

So, do YOU hide once you get the airstrike, then charge again, or
do you just keep going.

LOL I get them so rarely that I immediately try to use it. Sometimes gets me killed...

i prefer charge just random spot the airstrikes = best

I try to make the most out of the airstrikes, so I usually hide to make sure I can use it well. If I die, a well-placed airstrike could me get a UAV or even another airstrike (or helo, for that matter)...

i go hide because if you placed it correctly your going to get many more kills and then the helo.

Depends on the map and the game mode for me. Some maps like district, strike or Pipeline are very hit or miss based on where the enemy is on the map. In those cases, I usually try to wait (but still screw it up ).

On HQ, airstrike can be quite useful in either saving a cap or keeping the enemy from rushing a freshly capped HQ.

If I have an opportunity, I hide and use it. If I'm swarmed, depending on the map I will often just let myself be killed before I get the helo. A good airstrike does far more damage than a good helo, and I'll take the airstrike any day.

P.S. Getting an airstrike off of 1 nade is awesome btw. I did that for the first time yesterday.

I try to get out of the way and wait til someone sends up a uav and then drop it where it looks to do the most good. Hopefully you get 2 kills and can call in the helo while you'rs in the same spot.

I try to hide, but if an enemy spots me, I try to kill them.


Airstrikes are nice, but I usually mess them up and get only one kill (sometimes being me), actually a lot of times I get no kills (block and district and vacant)


However, a helo isn't bad. It's always nice having those few seconds of having a few free kills, or just making sure an enemy doesn't have one up...

i prefer an airstrike to helo any day so i will hide and use the strike then continue getting killed

Depends for me. If there is no chopper in the air I hide and use it to get up to chopper and then use that. If there is a chopper I go and get killed then use it on a block of 5-6 dots and try for another airstrike then die again and so on and try to chain them. I've managed 5 airstrikes in a row doing that. The one thing I hate is getting stuck with a chopper for a long time and missing out on lots of airstrike chances.

I hide when I get an airstrike... much better to wipe out another 5 than to lose that chance and get killed after 2.

Oh, and heres a tip if you're trying to get your heli or AS up:
Switch to your pistol. You can click the AS and heli summoner twice as fast and youre practically guaranteed to get it before the other team.

I sometimes die on purpose with the airstrike so I clear the count
then I can dump another Airstrike right after the first one ends


I love seeing the message accross my screen "what the..Hacker..how di he do that.."

simple- I sat on one of my own grenades, I spawned- ran to a really quiet place- I dropped the Airstrike, and then I did it again

Then I followed up with the Helo and laughed during the score recap at the end of the game- because my 40 kills were 35 air support and 5 direct BOD (bullet on Delivery)

The kill streak rewards in COD4 are beyond stupid.

Today I went 38-2 sniping in a round of Wet Work and got only one airstrike/heli the entire round, while doofus nade hurlers were getting 5 or 6 each because they were dying so much.

It doesn't make sense to reward players for suiciding after 5 kills, while not rewarding extended kill streaks. Why not have the kill streak rewards keep coming up at regular intervals, e.g. air strikes at 5 kills, 10 kills etc.?
