I like countdown, I just suck at it. I don't MIND Bog, I just don't think it's good for 48 or whatever people. I just see a ton of airstrikes dealing 15 kills making the rounds last less than 5 minutes.

I don't mind it too much, I just don't think I'll be playing it much due to the airstrikes.

Countdowns fine for me. Ambush is fine, I haven't played it much but when I have played it I enjoyed it. Bog beats vacant at least. No hallways, clear area and darkness. But the airstrikes are just murder.

      +1000 AMEN.

people- the reality is you can sit that round out if you dont like it.
While I hate saying that, I think complaining after demanding a different map rotation is ridiculous.

          Hey... I LOVE Vacant...

I'm near the top or THE top on every round, which is very unusual
          for me.

Seriously, I figured out a sound strategy that works 90 percent of the time
          for me on Vacant.

Overgrown, I can do great, or I can royally blow, so I'm still experimenting. lol

Bog I was never overly fond of because of the airstrikes, but I've already
figured out where NOT to be, so it is just working on refining stategy there.

Every map is a different challenge and different play styles for me.
          I LOVE IT

lol QFT unfortunately, some folks care too much about their precious K/D or whatever to enjoy a quick round on a small map. Thanks for the new additions Cain, and feel free to put Shipment and Wet Work back in the rotation to REALLY piss some people off!

You assume too much Karson. I don't care about "K/D or whatever," but I can evaluate a map and determine that it does not fit into my preferred style of gameplay. And I actually like Shipment on the HQ server. People can have opinions that have nothing to do with stats, you know. In my case, it's largely a factor of poor map design combined with large player counts that compound the inherent design flaws of these particular maps, and a distinct lack of strategy in how one can approach the maps.

As for Cain's original comment, what he says is really pretty true to form. I've noticed over the years that people do ask for something and then turn out to hate it a day or a week later, and continue in endless cycles. However, I would point out that I have not asked for additional maps for COD4, so my complaints are in a different category.

                Here's my thoughts -

I love bog. I don't usually get too many airstrike deaths. Just don't bunch up. Last night I saw 3 snipers all within 5 feet of each other. Move around people! When I snipe, I constantly shift position. In fact, I'm not even afraid to go close quarters. Learn how to make unscoped sniper shots, you'll be ok

About downpour, If i'm there, I can take out those .50 cal mounted machine guns. If I get some protection around that area near the building on the right flank, I can snipe or even assault rifle that position and kill whoever's using it. In fact, my favorite thing is to take those guys out. I hate those machine guns. So if you see me on Downpour, give me some cover, and I'll keep those guys off that gun all through the match.

                Some other quick thoughts -

I love Cargo/Wet Work, and Shipment is fun since it's chaos and really shot. I would be happy if they got added

Also, if Ambush is missing, I love that level! Please consider adding it

About Winter Crash - I never liked that one. Crash is great on it's own, but I hate the dark, with the christmas lights and tree and presents and creepy Santa Claus Aistrikes. I'm glad it's gone.

                My 73 cents.

Forget airstrike kills. It time for sniper headshots. You spawn...turn left and watch them show up in your scopes...one after another...lol crazy fun.

With the kill cam you always need to move after getting a kill. I love finding my killer still in the same spot.

To be honest, I never look at the kill cam. I press f so I don't have to deal with it. I wanna get straight back to the action. Also, before the kill cam starts, it shows you the general direction the shot came from, so if I was sniped, I'm gonna either rush that position, or chuck a grenade at you.

I'm getting really good at grenade chucking

Thanks for adding the maps. It's about time. HOOAH!

Think I'll start playing a little more now!

Ambush is my favorite, but anything to make the rotation take longer.

Sure, I wasn't talking about you anyway, rather the people whom in other threads have been concerned with K/D ratios etc.

That being said I switch up my gameplay for virtually every map in the game:

                          Bloc, Overgrown - Stealth
                          Pipeline - LMG
                          District, Backlot - SMG
                          Bog - Sniper

Even though I'm best with my P90, which I guess would make run and gunning my "preferred playstyle", it's fun and keeps the game fresh to try out other styles on various maps.

As for poor map designs and lack of strategy etc., at least in COD4 you can pick your loadout to suit the map, and of course you almost always swap ends on a map at least once per round due to COD4's spawning algorithm, so even though some maps are better than others I don't think it puts you at a disadvantage versus anyone else on the server (unlike say Dria in UT2k4) or causes a really painful round for one team (unlike say Arctic Stronghold in UT2k4).

Ultimately though the average round of COD4 TDM on Cain's takes 5 minutes, so it's not too hard to grab a drink, check your email, read the news or whatever and before you know it a new map that suits your playstyle is ready to go!

I like the versatility of having to switch up playstyle for various maps. It makes a better player IMO, and not all combat situations are exactly strategically fair. That is where skill and teamwork come into play, which allows the "adapt and overcome" philosophy to deploy. Surely on every map each person prefers to start on one side of the map or the other, and should do so where they think they have the advantage.

you see, the problem with that is this:
we don't want to be your human shield or decoy! Its not about K/D ratio, its just that I dont like getting mowed down by the Spetznatz MG every five seconds.
It is impossible for the SAS to win Downpour against even a mediocre team, because all Spetz have to do is sit next to the grain silos, the roof of the garage, or on the MG and they will win every time.
and that one-sidedness makes it really bad for business...

Okay, enough ranting, I also noticed that Showdown wasnt in there either...

OOOH I can't wait to get home and play.

I LOVE downpour. I don't have any problems taking out everyone on the roof of the garage or around the grain silos. In fact, that is the sweet spot of the map. Downpour nading requires a little bit of skill at being able to make some bank shots with the nades and TERRORIZE those hiding around the grain bins. Nades, nades, nades. Two guys with 3 nades each can ruin that whole side of the map for the enemy and from either side. I think it was downpour where I scored my best with 174 kills and 44 deaths or something like that.

                                MMMMMmmmm I can't wait.
