I didn't know the gun overheated. It never has for me, and I can bet you I laid into it for at least 90 seconds straight on Overgrown on a couple of occasions.

+1 I personally have never seen the MGs over heat. in fact people are constantly bitching about it over on the IW forums.

On BF2 the guns would overheat, but not on many other games I've played.

lol QFT unfortunately, some folks care too much about their precious K/D or whatever to enjoy a quick round on a small map. Thanks for the new additions Cain, and feel free to put Shipment and Wet Work back in the rotation to REALLY piss some people off!

Wet Works is pretty good IMO...if only they would release a map based on that one level where you hold the top of the hill then run back towards your chopper (Towards the end, after Price kills Al-Asad)

I've only had the SP machine guns overheat.

I've not ever any problem with the MG's on MP, but I'm usually
the recipient of the bullet Hoze rather than the Hozer.

Those that have played wetworks, bog, and other new maps have an
advantage over us that play exclusively at Cain's. Eventually I will
get some cohesive strategy going instead of Spawn, Start to run, Die, Spawn, Start to run, Die, Rinse and repeat.

If I have a good round, it is because the other team MUST feel sorry
for my poor shrapnel and bullet riddled body.

At least on Kill Cam, I can see what stupid thing I did to get killed.

I can't fire for 15 seconds straight without it stopping and pouring smoke out of the barrel and going ding-ding as it cools... which is why I have to fire in bursts on it.

I have the DVD version of CoD4, do yall have the Steam version?

I have the CD. But then, I'm usually stopping to see where the targets are. All the shaking and smoke makes it hard to see where you need to
shoot. But i'm right back at it once i see a clear picture.

Quoted myself to add this. I couldn't imagine why you'd wanna fire it for fifteen seconds unless you were trying to kill the flat side of a building.

ok, i just made a server and held down the fire button on a MG for more than two minutes with no overheating.

I am positive that the 'mounted' machineguns don't overheat. I don't know about those in the LMG category, but I have never had ANY gun overheat on COD4. Anyway... if you mean the "mg" as the ones mounted on certain maps... no.. never had one of them overheat..

I'm with drunken_chef on that one.. I've fired the hell out of that gun until it starts to give me a headache.. never letting off...never slowing down...never overheating.

I don't fire for more than a sec or two unless I seem to miss my target with the mounted machine gun, in which yes I would try to kill the building until they died.
I call it a MG... baybe I should start calling it a MMG.
Well damn, whats so special about me that doesnt let it fire for extended periods of time...

ERM... I dunno... maybe your settings are too high? When you start the game, what version does it say?

This may have something to do with my problem... there an update I dont know about? Today I played for the first time in a few days, and I randomly lost control of my mouse for 5 seconds each time, then it would come back for about 10-15 and go out again. I could move forward and back and side to side, but couldn't look or aim with the mouse.

I'm running 1.5.549 or something like that. I'm sure I can fix my mouse issue but I'm wondering what version you're showing.
