Found a weapon combo I like - FINALLY !

After a month of trying this and that, and not getting excited about any weapons, I hit on a combo that I really like last night. I've only been playing a month now, so I really was limited to what I could obtain, but after using the MP5 to death, and having no luck with the M4, I finally unlocked the RDP which was OK with red dot, but last night I unlocked the ACOG on this gun:



If you've seen me play, I rarely top 10 kills with about 9 deaths, so I am barely on the plus side with my K/D ratio, but I popped the ACOG on that RDP and went 19-6-6 on the map, followed up by a 16-5-5, which for me is extremely good !!!



The second map I had my first 10 kill streak (but couldn't get the chopper, something goofed up after I dropped and picked up a few weapons). Its obvious that the choice of weapons is a very biased choice, and that RDP/ACOG combo didn't fare so well for me on the third map, Pipeline. That one I rely on my trusty shotty with double tap.

So there you have it .... I found a combo that makes things more fun, and I don't feel like I am outgunned all the time. Anybody else find that combo that just works much better for them when he going gets tough ??

Err...I'm guessing that's a typo.

Glad you found something that you can wreck havoc with. I did horrible (I mean, horrible) for a long time. Once I picked up UAV Jammer and Silencers, and really learned how to use them, my K/D went up a good bit. I use MP5 (Silenced) + UAV Jammer almost religiously, making constant use of steady aim and stun grenades, as well.

I agree that certain maps tend to favor certain set-ups (for example, Bog with stealth hardly works out for me) but that's where you have the 5 kits to work with. Though 3/5 of mine are stealth.

its kinda funny WT. pipeline is the ONLY map that I always use the RPD on. most maps I use a P90 with stealth or the M4 with stopping power. glad you could find a set up that works for oyu.

Congrats on finding a combo that works WT, the RPD is indeed a worthy gun to rock with

Though I'd lose the ACOG personally, I hate that thing with an undying passion. Red Dot for life

I'm with Carbonfire on the ACOG. When I run out of ammo or play something like sniper where I want to replace the pistol, and end up with an ACOG weapon, I feel offended and short-changed. I sometimes even try to ask "who puts an ACOG on a shotgun?"

Down with ACOGs. I'd much rather see the periphery then narrow down some tube, especially with something like a LMG that can hose down a whole street.

Heh, I've got my shotty red dotted, but I honestly rarely use it. Better to have it than not, and having 3 stuns is worth it more to me than having SLIGHTLY less recoil on the shotty (with the grip).

My favorite combo is noob toob, grenades x3, smoke, and then rapid firing my weapon dry until I die.

I find that this is the easiest way to get airstrikes and it tends to make me a favorite with the people who die random deaths by noob toob.

Yea, I'm still working on the other combos. I just added a grip to my shotty with red dot, which now that I think about it is questionable.

But thats why I made the thread !! You get to see what others use and get a different perspective on how to use a setup. I have stayed away from ACOG up until now .. I HATE sniping, but in reality the RDP with ACOG is a medium range sniper setup .. I'm contradicting myself there in fact.

Tails also brings up a full stealth setup, and I think Dead n Gone started a thread on that as well, so as of tonight I am turning my all purpose MP5 into a stealth setup and dropping the red dot, then going with silencers and UAV jammer. I have yet to try ANY stealth, so this thread is my reminder to try it out.

I have yet to try ANY stealth, so this thread is my reminder to try it out.

I love a full stealth kit, probably because this game plays a tad differently than the BF series (which I've been playing for about 2 years now) so it's hard to get used to that slight difference. The end result is a boat-load of bullets flying past those I'm trying to shoot. I can't kill anyone unless I get the jump on them, I swear.

With stealth, it can take some patience. Moving around quickly is good if you know nobody will see you; if you're unsure, sometimes taking that sniper mentality and belly-crawling for a bit can keep you out of trouble, and set you up for a nice streak. After a while, it's like second-nature. At first, I was popping up in all the wrong places at all the wrong times.

If you go double-tab on the auto shotty, you may want bandolier to complement it.

Grats, the RPD is an incredible gun for certain parts of virtually every map. Try using the Grip attachment instead as it really extends the range of the gun, and it has good sights already without red dot and ACOG.

RPD + Grip + Stopping Power + Deep Impact FTW!

I've been tossing up a few idea with my kits recently. My main assault kit has been using a G36C recently w/ a Red-Dot, but I think I liked the G3 more. I love the G36C for CQC combat, but the G3 is an amazing rifle for mid-range combat. I've also been trying Smoke grenades on my stealth kit rather than stuns, but I don't find myself using the smokes as much as the stuns.

I like the bandolier perk for my Sniper kit, too. I could never keep enough ammo in those things in CoD4! Plus, I never really used stuns grenades/flash grenades/claymores when I sniped, so the extra ammo really helps.
