    Reinstallation Problems

So I uninstalled CoD4 like a month ago because it was freezing and really jerky when I started the game. When I went to reinstall it the CoD4 screen comes up, but instead of giving me the option to install the game it still says I need to uninstall it.

I've been talking to Activision about it and they still haven't been able to fix this for me.

I have deleted all the CoD folders and files, and even deleted some registry keys that Activision wanted me to delete to try and fix it, yet nothing has helped.

Any one had this problem or have any other ideas? I miss playing with ya'll =(

It's probably reading this misinformation from a redundant registry key. You could always try a registry cleaner as a last resort before formatting.

CCleaner is good and free. If you don't mind paying i recommend Tune Up Utilities 2008. I use the 2007 version.

+1, seriously. Reinstall works for everything and it's usually easier than you think. If you've spent more than a few hours trying to figure this out, a reformat would have already been faster

However, it -is- most likely a registry issue. If Activision told you to remove a key it's possible a copy of that key is somewhere else in the registry. Use the find function (ctrl+f) in regedit to sniff out all copies of the key(s) Activision told you to delete and delete them.

K, I got it fixed. Had to end up deleting some more registry keys.

Reinstalling it now, so hopefully I'll see ya'll tonight =)

I hope you saved your soldier file. Or you have to start all over.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
