indeed, I find it a lot easier to get into the CoD4 server than the 2142 titan server. I think the super fast rounds help

When I played COD2, I sometimes gravitated to the tactical realism servers, which always had many more rules than the "run and gun" type servers.

I can see requiring that players use their iron sights, as in real life combat a soldier isn't gonna fire from the hip at and enemy 100' away. But it's ridiculous to require someone to use their sights when they round a corner and come face to face with an enemy. In a situation like that, it is realistic to hip fire.

But the "no sprinting" rule is just bizarre.

The reason why? Tactical Realism server. They also probably have that you can't use flashs or stuns within the first 20 seconds of the game. Also it should be hardcore too.
