Search and Destroy?

What do you guys think of this game type? Any chance we'll get S&D up on the Lair?

This was my favorite game type in COD2. As a matter of fact, I played S&D almost exclusively. I just love that tactics and strategy are absolutely required to win, whereas in TDM strategy has a minimal role. It's also has a much slower pace, which is a nice break from the frantic action in a TDM server.

We tried it here for a bit, problem is, it requires even MORE teamwork to work properly than even HQ. And in a public server setting, the own thing that is consistently hard to come by is teamwork

Plus the placement of the bomb targets on a lot of the maps is pretty poor :P

It was tried on the HQ server, and even with smaller player counts, most of those trying it out didn't like it for various reasons including the one Carbonfire mentioned. It's not likely to come back.

P.S. That point about teamwork in a public server is dead one. For whatever reason, people use VOIP in this game even less than the BF games and ONS, so coordination is hard to come by. I seem to be one of the few using it for strategy and tactics, and warning people about that airstrike coming along etc. I miss the days when several people would coordinate through VOIP, rather than the current day when half the time I use it, I have to tell someone to move from a doorway or get the guys standing around gazing into the sky to shoot that helicopter that keeps ripping us up.

That is the one thing I noticed missing on my return the the Lair. Back in the ONS days, communication was key to winning the round, and there was a lot of communication going on. But so far I've heard almost no communication in the TDM COD4 server. That's not meant to be criticism, but just my observation.

I played some S&D last night on another server and really enjoyed it. Sorry to see it's already come and gone here.

I like S&D but it has to be hardcore.

I like S&D the best out of any of the gametypes. It limits nade spamming because when they die, they dont respawn with more nades. Also you dont get spawned upon because there is of course no spawning until the bomb is found or destroyed or blown up.....

It might take longer, but you don't get BS killed as much

I know of a serverthat runs S&D, sabotage, and HQwith a mix-up on what's played on what maps. I'm obviously not going to post it up here, but if you want to play some S&D between TDM rounds at Cains, let me know and i'll hook ya up.
