Hey no problems on the conversations at all. I just don't like them taking up screen space and I have been shot because I couldn't see the player for the text. If I run at 800x600 my FPS is great. Running at 1280x1024 I get as low as 16 fps in some places and I have a good machine. So I will have to try some other screen resolutions I guess to get a happy balance. If everyone wants to chat, I am cool with that. Just hate it when it causes me to die more than usual and I do die a lot.

I have always had only four admins on any of my servers. Usually I'd pick a person based on their time zone after studying their behavior. You'd be surprised, however, how some change once given such powers. I am glad I am not an admin! It really takes away from the game, even though I am fully capable of it and always did a good job at it, but trying to solve everyone's problems can get old. Listening to the arguing while maintaining a consoling attitude is a gem. Most people don't realize that it is really a job to admin a server, and once given that power, some collapse and go off the deep end and either take it WAY too far, or they quit playing altogether simply because they know they won't get to play much. There is a good balance here with the exception of late night players.

I was on at 4 a.m. this morning (couldn't sleep due to quitting smoking) and there was a couple of words said that would have probably been grounds for at least a kick, but there are no admins on at this hour. It was pretty well behaved other than that, and I wasn't in my regular name...which wouldn't have mattered anyway since I don't bear the CLR tag but only on one profile that I never play.

You can alwasy try to change the coding in the game without affecting your gameplay. If you figure it out, I'm sure some others will like you and offer to pay you for your services and you can donate the proceeds to CainsLair.com...lol!

Just ignore it! It happens but it's part of the point of playing online.

ALL the admin's love to play. We only have to wear our admin hats
when we need to investigate someone for possible glitching or hacking,
asshat activity, really obnoxious chat or voip comments, or problems
with player names. A few other things we do or look for also.

Most times, we can mitigate potential problems with a VOIP comment
and/or chat comment. We are NOT the heavy handed admin's that you
            see sometimes on other servers.

It isn't all work, no play, although I have been killed many times while
I was doing some of my admin stuff ingame.
Kind of a BIG sitting target.

Being an admin gives you some serious responsibilities. Cain hand picks
his admin's, and watches what they say or do, so that we are all on the
            same page.

It is an honor to be an admin on Cain's servers, and we try to uphold
his vision of a family friendly and kindly administered servers. We do
have the big stick if needed when all options are exhausted. It isn't the
FIRST option, but there if justified.

Does it sometimes take away from gameplay? Yes. But you may go for
several rounds before you may see a problem that you need to step in.
It isn't a thankless job by any stretch. Then there is the personal
satisfaction of dealing with a problem and solving it, one way or another.

I was a top officer for a long time in a 400 member guild in WOW.
Now THAT was could be a major headache. You were constantly
bombarded with everything from trivial tiffs, to help with guildies, to
giving mats to players for profession upgrades or enchants, to major foo
fra's. You rarely got to just PLAY. It wasn't a problem for me, but it wore
down a lot of people. Support from the guild master was paramount.

Some people got burned out, some got testy, I rather enjoyed being
an officer. It just depends on your mental profile. If your guild master
supported you, then you could do your job. If not, then it wasn't pretty.

It is a LOT different being an admin here, but some similarities.
This is just a more relaxed and fun place to be, without the overwhelming
drama that WOW presented. Life is GOOD.

I admin several servers so I guess that is why I notice it. I did manage to get 1024x768 to run without killing my fps so the text isn't so bad now.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
