is UAV jammer and a silencer necessary?

UAV is awesome on some maps. if you are tunnel running, it is funny to see someone turn the corner and DOH! I like my little M36 silenced with UAV.
One Excellent player used UAV, Silenced G3 ... and he ROCKED. I used his setup, and it really really did have a lot of potential, and I'll use it after I've maxed out M36

On tight small maps though, I don't see the benefit of Silencer and UAV together. Too much noise and death around every corner to be of much use.

M16 takes care of not having stopping power. So does an AK, but the 16 is a bit more accurate.

I don't have any problems with my MP5 either. Doesn't take much to take somebody down.

OK, maybe I'm missing something. If one is using UAV Jammer, and still shows up on the radar as a red dot, what good is UAV Jammer?

if u are not firing, u will not appear as a red dot. which gives u time to sneak up behind them and shoot, once u shot, u appear as a red dot and hell breaks loose cuz u r in their base and i dont like people in my base!!

Thanks. I thought you only showed as a red dot when you were firing. Apparently you show as a red dot at all times, unless you have UAV Jammer. Is that correct?

Only if a UAV is up and active at the time. Which on Cain's server is usually the case, so in a sense, yes. You do not show up as a red dot unless you fire if a UAV is not up.

if you have the jammer and silencer,you should never show up on a uav.even when you shoot.the whole point of the silencer is so you dont show up when you shoot.even the game tips tell you that.

I use the Jammer and silencer a lot. get behing the enemy lay low for a minute and once they are set up hit them its great for sniper hunting on crossfire

Ok guys let me clear this up.

I use both the silencer and the UAV Jammer. You can argue that they don't work that well all you want. But when the round is over and you see my name, Quickster's name or Rye, then you can see we all almost always have both on. Quickster and I almost have identical perks.

The fact that you will never be noticed on the radar is awesome. You get behind enemy lines where no one is looking and then start picking off thjose pesky snipers and other campers keeping the rest of our team dead and unable to push. Jugganaut is worthless when I'm right behind you sticking a knife in your back. Haha!

So try it before you knock it! Honestly one of the best combos out there. Shotty with UAV Jammer is also a useful combo. Anyone who is a threat is already dead.

UAV Jammer only blocks you from showing up when someone does a UAV scan. You know, when you get a 3 kill streak, you can scan. The silencer only ensures that when you fire you gun, that the dot never shows on the screen. UAV tracks the heartbeat basically. With a UAV Jammer, you can still be seen on the radar every time you fire your gun without a silencer. Basicallu with both...you never show up. EVER!

Since Fiery's answer doesn't really address the heart of the question, I'll give it a go.

The UAV will pick you up no matter what, silencer or no. It's not looking for shots fired, it's looking for, as Fiery said, "heartbeats," or maybe "heat signatures."

You could have the best silencer in the virtual world of COD 4, and it's not going to matter--when they throw up a UAV, it WILL see you, whether you fire a shot or not. In fact, it's almost pointless to use a silencer without the UAV jammer in the Lair, because the UAV is almost always up. They may not hear you shoot, but if they pay any attention to their mini maps (and I for one very much do), they know where you are.

This is why you need the UAV jammer. It blocks the UAV from seeing you.
