I think you guy have a great server and love to play the TDM, HOWEVER.......

What would make the server even better is if the rules were enforced. No Cursing, cheating or .......you know the last one is claimed, however, until yesterday I saw no enforcement of the rules. Or even the last of the three is a questionable one given that your rules are for no cursing.

A simple PB config could get rid of much of the bad behavior on the server and you would then have an even better place to play.

PLEASE do something about the language! Some of it is just awful and very unnecessary!

There is one application that you can put into servers called B3 I think and whenever you type in certain words. BOOM. temp banned for 20 mins

I assume you know how to use python and MySQL. If not you should consult the documentation for these if you have problems or questions on how to administer each.

Cain, there is a PB Bad Word list. You can plug it in server config and any player that uses them once, twice, or as many times as you want, gets kicked for a limit that you set. I have no idea what the config is, but I'm sure you can find it. I really dont mind having a cussfree game

These things make me a lil paranoid, I've been in servers with language filters auto-banning people over innocent typos, kiddie slang, and of course non-obscene proper use. People tend to find ways around language filters, and when administration attempts to compensate, things can get out of control very quickly.

I don't really think its a bad idea, if implemented properly.

Honestly, you shouldn't be using "4 letter words" in a non-obscene proper use in any case, as there really aren't a lot of calls for it, or easy ways to get around it and us other words. Filters are there to provide first level protection, imo. If someone gets to the point where they continue to abuse and find their ways around the filters then they probably should be banned, again in imo. And kiddie slang, well, I'm not a big fan of slang in the first place, I tend to type out everything correctly and with punctuation, so that stuff annoys the heck out of me. As far as being booted, if you're using kiddie slang that gets you booted, there's a reason for it. If you can't type well enough to avoid typo'ing something that then becomes a curse/"bad" word, then don't type anymore.

If you have a cheating claim, make a fraps vid of it, screenshot, etc. Get the UID and then put it in out Report A Jerk section.

If you have trouble figuring out how to do any of this, refer to the stickies in that section, set just above the button that says Post New Thread, and it will tell you how to get this done correctly.

If you are not comfortable doing this publicly, PM anyone with the title Game Administrator, (Cain, Sirex, Jeffro, etc) and they will gladly take the report.

I like the idea. I wonder about how it will work - that sounds worse than I mean it, but I have a headache :P I'm just curious as to how it will work and what words will be banned. Will it give you a warning and then be able to ban you on the second use, or auto-ban on the first offense? Will it ban you for saying like, hell and damn, or just up to the main bad words like the s and f bombs? Will certain ... "adult-oriented" words be banned, too? I guess that's the best way I can say it without being graphic.

Also, I was on a different server not too long ago to play a free for all game, and it had a similar automated warning system for foul language, but amusingly, if you typed the word, "kick", it would warn you to not use bad language. I have no idea why "kick" was considered a bad word, but when someone typed it and the console came up with the warning, we all tried it to see if it was a one-time error, but it kept warning us. We thought it was pretty funny. I hope that if we adopt a system it doesn't have false positives like that, although they are funny

I played in a COD2 server that had a bad word filter. It warned you twice, then kicked you for 5 minutes or something like that. Bans didn't happen unless it was repetitive.

It was actually kinda funny to see new, foul-mouthed players get autokicked. Say buh bye, potty mouth.

Well, the console warns that Cursing and Cheating are reasons for bans, but since PB doesn't currently enforce it, people abuse it. Much of the time the language is terrible and unnecessary.

PB is easy to configure to kick people for texting bad words on the screen.

MANY servers do it and you will be much happier with the server when you get rid of the garbage..

FPSadmin site has a LOT of great information on configuring PB for that.

My 2 cents is, I'm to busy trying to stay alive to read the chat. but I do agree that a couple of nights ago i stepped back for a moment and the language was F*** this and F** that, my wife was watching and asked "How old are these people. So if we could set up some filter with a kick then repeat ban filter we might want to look into it.

I tend not to pay too much attention to the chat that is going on but some people do get out of hand.

I personally only take offense to the racist comments since that is a bit different from the cursing imo.I think everyone has had a frustration induced curse at some point, but the racism thing has no excuse whatsoever and should get an instaban.
