New to Forum and cheat questions

Hi guys, I think this is the place for me. Seems to be civil and well moderated from what I can see. That's a good thing. I'm really tired of all the stuff you get most places. Hope this turns out well for me.

I want to first state that I am currently on assignment in Iraq. The problem with that is I'm limited to crappy ping times because everything here is satellite feed. I play mostly COD4 MW and there are limited servers that allow high ping rates. I'm so used to gettin killed it dont even bother me anymore. But it does make me have to be a bit more crafty to play.

Second is I dont think the developers intended for me to run around the game with a red icon on top of my head that shows everyone where I'm at. Specially in sniper mode.

So am I wrong in suspecting this is a hack.It takes away from the game itself. Heck I'm easy enough to kill as it is without the neon sign over my head. But I dont know what can be done in this case. Seems like there is limited skill in knowing where every opponent is at all times.

I"m not an expert but I'm not the last in line either. I just want to enjoy someplace with a civil approach where questions can be answered without all the smart remarks.

ps: I dont know what server you guys are on. And if my ping time is too high, I understand. One last question , how to observe other players in the PC version.

In terms of the icon over your head, you've got me. I have been playing this game since it came out and I am not sure what it is that is happening to you. Any chance you can take a screenshot spectating yourself so I can see what you are referring to?

As far as your ping is concerned, as long as the game is playable for you don't worry. You will here complaints now and then from players saying that the high pings make THEM lag. That is completely false and we have been hearing that for the past 10 years.

I know what he means.

In Team Deathmatch, the UAV map is always on (Top Left).

The UAV map only shows unsilenced fire positions UNLESS someone clicks the deploy UAV button on the enemy team.

At this point, the anyone who does not have the UAV jammer will be visible in addition to the people who are firing their unsilenced weapons.

Is that what you mean?
And yes, that little map makes it really easy to run up the score.
For a stronger realistic experience, I reccomend you try our CoD4 - HC TDM server (see the column to the left and grab the IP ## from the read out.)

No Hammy that's not it at all, I'm talking about in the game play I'm sitting in the corner in the dark in sniper mode and there is an icon above my head like a enlarged arrow with the text in it that say "you". Nice off red color. I've seen it on some of the vids in youtube where the guy can see everyone on screen in the game. Not on the UAV. It just hovers over your head wherever you move.

Course the guy that's running the hack can see everyone's position in the game. He just trots around and finds them all and either flanks them or starts shooting before he gets to the hide they are in. You get the idea. I'm sure its a hack because I know the game is based on stealth and maneuvering around with out drawing attention to yourself. It takes away the whoe reason for playing in the first place.

One other question, how do I just observe the game. Is that the 7 key. And what is the command for a screenshot.

Sorry for all the stupid question, but I just play the game cause its fun. I'm not into all the higher end stuff. And I never come across any of the commands for those actions.

If as Hammy described, you are talking about the mini-map in the upper left corner of the screen, then yeah - that's gonna probably be there most of the round in the Regular TDM server. Especially when you play with more people in the server (our server goes to 50 players max). Every time any player gets 3 kills w/o dying, they get to throw that up and you get a red dot showing your location on the map. There are a lot of players who read that map religiously and will find the hiders If you are sniping, I suggest using UAV jammer. You'll still show up on the radar when you take a shot, but there's less chance of someone readin the map when your dot comes up for like 2 seconds.

Also, as Hammy said, there's our Hardcore server where the UAV doesn't go up NEARLY as often. Lot more sniper friendly

When you go into Join Server, get on favorites, and click New Favorite, then type in this ip address -

63.113.60.4:28960

and you'll find the Cain's Lair Hardcore Server. It's not as crowded as the Reg TDM server for the most part, so there's not so many grenades flying... I could go on. I play on the HC server as much as I can. I love it.

I'm pretty much telling the same things other people have said in this thread, however I also know that when someone gets close to you, it will display your screenname above your head. If you are sniping, and someone shoots you from a distance, they probably didn't see your screenname, though it will show up on Killcam with a BIG icon saying YOU on it. Trust me, the YOU does not show up in normal play, and the other people cannot see it.

They only see your screenname above your head when they are close to you. Sometimes if you are in sniper mode, and some other sniper is watching the normal sniper spots, they can see movement and just hit you. Guaranteed, they do not see a neon sign over your head just small movements in an area they may be used to sniping at.

I knew it! That's just the killcam showing you where your position is in replay mode, so you can see what the other person sees. It however points out which person you are, so you can tell when you come into the enemies' point of view.

Guaranteed that is not something they see when they are playing the game. It is only in killcam, viewable by you to help you discern yourself from other players.

It is in the kill cam but also I've seen it on Youtube where the video shows all the players movement with the same icons just hovering above everyone's head no matter where they are or what they are doing.

Its late over here guys and I need to get to bed, but if you search youtube for some of the cod4 vids I guarantee you its not supposed to be in the game.

If no one can find it I'll go tomorrow and see if I can dig one up and post the link to the video.

And one other thing , you guys forgo to tell me how to observe another player in the game, and take a screenshot.

Screenshot by default is F12, and to spectate another player, it esc, click choose teams, and choose spectate. From there you can just left click or right click to switch between players until you find who you're looking for.
