Never had that problem here to, I have Vista Business 64 bits with 6gb of ram.

Oh well Ok, I didn't have an account for gamming, everything is on the same, but I like your ideas of creating an account only for gamming with less stuff started up. Nice ideas

But to be back to subject, It also looks to me that it's a corrupted hive problem...

ok try right clicking the Icon on your desktop and click "Run as Administrator" sometimes Vista is funnt that way...I had those issues with BF2 of all games when I made the switch to Vista

I tried that Zantheus, but it didn't work. I would hope you wouldn't have to do that with a game branded "Games for WIndows"...

Do u have UAC off??? Try setting the game's permissions to your gaming acct...

You might also want to try your firewall. Sometimes for some dumb reason, your firewall keeps you from running games at all.

User Account Permissions is a load of BS in Vista and XP.

Set all accounts to Uber and forget about it.
Thats how I stopped these problems from occuring.

Even if you solve it now, one day you will log in to play, and the damned settings will have defaulted and then you will have to try and remember how you got around it last time.

Because vista is a pain.... Did you know that you cannot access the documents and settings folder in the main harddrive, even as an administrator? Seems like there are some hidden permissions that need to be handed over to the users.....

Hehe, it not hidden, they actually did something sneaky. Some of the folders and links in your %systemdrive%\Users\<username>\ directory have the explicit permission of deny enabled on List folder/read data. This doesn't stop any programs from reading or writing data just you from browsing it. Until you change it that is. I have had to find stuff and turned the deny permissions off until I found what I was looking then turned it on.

well mate im sorry to say but in my opinion it sounds like you need a new cdrom/dvd drive yes i know this sucks but if your going to get one get it now because almost all prices are down

Okay, now I am getting the login hang on my main user as well, although not as frequently. The wierdest part is that usually when it hangs the year gets changed to 2020! I then have to go in and change it in Windows or setup.
