ingame text issue

Because i only have a 17" screen if someone types a full sentence it almost covers half of my screen. This isnt an issue on cains server but on a bolt-only server i play on theres lots of spam from the server and if there are 4+ sentences on the screen theres a huge amount of my screen covered. is there anyway i can change the font size?

Sounds like you're limited by your monitor resolution. Simple fix is to just play on our server. It's more fun too.

But is there a way that our console text could be raised to the top or ran at the bottom? I have notice that it's in the left middle of the screen, and can restrict view when sniping and such.

Pretty sure there isn't an option. It's just the way the games designed. I haven't noticed this tbh. I'm running at 1680x1050.

Im with u there juneau. I have a 22" screen so its just goes to the next line when there is a big sentence.

What are you running your res at? I'm running at 1280x1024 on a 17" CRT and don't notice it that much. I could see how it would be a problem if you are running at 1024x768 or less though.

I'll look for cl_ settings and see if there is anything that may help. In the mean time if you are running at a lower res like 1024x768 will you graphics card handle 1280x1024 as Gene suggested?

You can try these two settings and see if they make a difference:

/cg_gameMessageWidth 455 (default on mine) - How wide the text spreads across your screen

/cg_gameBoldMessageWidth - 390 (default on mine) to reduce the text size ingame, change the value lower

I set mine to 200 each, but I'm not sure if there is a difference. Let us know if you can tell if it worked.

finally got round to playing some cod jus now i set chatheight to 4 and chattime to 5000 both are really useful.
i also changed boldmessage width to 130 which again very useful.
however a long sentence still goes out (literally) to the middle of my screen, can i change the setting so that sentences cover less space before starting at the left hand side again? because the message width command is making no difference

im pretty sure that command is for things that pop up in the middle of the screen like you killed... ect...

kk just realised that the commands were to change the size of the combat log thats why we all arent noticing a difference in the chat lol
