custom map warning

i spotted a custom map (cant remember the name) and thought i would try it so downloaded the map (this is ingame). However when i left my rank was 1 and prestige was 0. if any of you experience this just go to mods, then even if there are no mods in the list, select "launch without mods" and everything should be fine

also because this scared me abit lol is there anyway that i can backup my profile?

You can find your profile in C:\Documents and Settings\Your Folder\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW.
It is in the Players folder. Just copy it to another location.
For XP you will need to go to Control Panel/Appearance and Themes/Folder Options. Click the view tab and check Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Keaben, it would be my guess that you downloaded a mod, not just a custom map. In this case your rank in that mod would by 1. However, straight up custom maps should not re-set your rank.

actually, a mod is required to run a custom map, but most of the time nothing changes, the new map is just added to the list of maps

thanks guys an jus wanted to make sure if anyone has this they dont panic thinking their rank is completely gone
