Fix For “Error during initialization: Unhandled exception caught”

    To remedy this problem click:
    Start>Control Panel>Sound

Right Click on the default playback device (e.g. Speakers) and click properties. From there select the Advanced tab.
To eliminate this error the default playback format must be set at 24 bit 48000Hz (Studio Quality). Simply select this from the dropdown list and apply the settings.

Try launching the game now-Everything should run fine.
I found this fix for those of you having the unhandled exception error.

Call of Duty World at War Black Screen problem/error
Ok, for everyone getting the stupid endless black screen bug, the fix is incredibly simple. Just Alt+Tab out if it to switch to a new screen. Afterwards, Alt+Tab back into it, then hit Esc. The main intro should start right up. It’s worked for me everytime so far. Now I’m not 100% sure this works on XP or not, since I use 32-bit Vista, but I imagine it will.
    or try

Assuming you have installed Call of Duty World at War in it’s default installation directory :

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\main\video

and delete “Treyarch.bik”. It is recommended that you keep a backup of this video file

How to make your own Call of Duty World at War profile (to save configs and other stuff) / Fixing the profile error or configurations not being saved

Vista: Browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\ players and delete everything except for the active.txt. You may need to go into the game one more time, back out, and delete more. Right click on the “players” folder and make sure it’s not set to Read Only. Now you’ll be able to create a profile for yourself.

Windows XP: “Users” is called “Documents and Setting”
      Apache

I think when you start CoD5 it connects to the internet and it place 6 profiles (to your profile directory) and PB only want 5 profiles, 6 will intefer with PB somehow. And that's what happens now when we start CoD5. Try and shut off internet and see if it works, would be interesting, write if you get the error or not!

I had this for the first time yesterday too. Happened twice iirc. Once upon starting the game and again about 45mins later during the middle of the round.

              hasn't happened since.

                    What OS do you have?
Make sure you have all of the Windows Updates and the current DirectX for your OS. If you are running Vista make sure you are running the game as admin.

If you have XP, do you have SP3?
If you have XP try this:

                    1. goto My Computer
                    2. View System Info
                    3. Hardware
                    4. Device Manager
                    5. select Sound, Video, Game Controllers
                    6. DISABLE Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device
                    or this:

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE DOWNLOADED d3dx9_37.dll AND PASTED IT INTO COD5 FOLDER:

                    1. DELETE d3dx9_37.dll FROM COD5 FOLDER

                    2. DE-INSTALL THE GAME.

                    3. DOWNLOAD THIS DirectX UPDATE: http://callofduty5.tv/files/dxwebsetup.exe

                    4. INSTALL THE GAME! (MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL PUNKBUSTER, EVEN IF YOU HAD IT INSTALLED BEFORE, BECAUSE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ANOTHER ERROR POPS OUT...)

Also look in the Technical Support section of the COD WW Forums.
Call of Duty, World at War

Currently I can not view them. It wants me to
Apache log in and I already am.

I think this error can appear on anyone from time to time. I've had it 3 times so far but when i restart the game it has no problems.... until next time.

Good luck with the fix HazzyBrap.
