If you try to connect and cannot, just keep trying you'll eventually get in there.

I have and I even seleted and redownloaded the game. It still gives me the error. I Googled it and others are getting this too. Unfortunately, I have not found a fix for this.

Are you perhaps trying to launch it from the servers list without opening the game itself? I believe that happens if you try to join the game from your friends list. like Ex: cain is playing..you click join his game. you'd get the error "can not join because you do not have 3rd party mod"
Fix: launch the game normally and go to the server browser and look for cains server. you should have it as favorite by now
and join that way.

I used to only get it from the server menu. I was able to join via friends. Now I can not join that way either. I even got that message from within the game. I finally got in tonight.

I have the server as a Favorite, and that is how I always join...
Chances are if you are having problems, many other folks are as well.Comment
