in that article it says they dropped it due to balancing issues. I don't think a silencer is going to cause balancing issues on most servers or even in competitive play. Most players don't use it, and IMO when a CT was using one against me it didn't really help them sneak up on me or anything.
And yes the silencer was on the H&K USP .45 as well as the Maverick 5.56... or at least hose were the correct names in Source. I think 1.6 is the same but I can't recall.Comment

you didn't know the USP could have the silencer taken off? I thought it was off by default and you had to right click [alt fire] to put it on... for both weapons actually.Comment
