Guys, what gives?

I had "auto join when available" on and as soon as I heard sound alt-tabbed to the game. It showed the 5 second connect screen.
Instantly I was voted off for being AFK. Seriously?

Was it the MOTD screen? Pretty sure if you don't acknowledge it and pick a team soon enough it kicks you automatically. Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think you can be vote kicked if you aren't on a team (except by admins).

I think its what king ping says. If you don't choose a team there is a timer so people don't clog the system. Same thing if you stay in spectate and don't move from player to player.

Or 2 people got in at the same time?

I like that it automatically kicks, especially with the high volume of people constantly leaving and joining all of the time. I'm sure people would be discouraged to join if there was a 15minute wait to get in all of the time; these sort of things help in that regard.

I must be one of the few that actually wait out the 15 minutes. Yes, I do sometimes have to wait ~15 minutes to play.

What if i say you joined the server as someone who was getting kicked for a vote left.
Pure bad timing, the system asks the server to kick a player, its not instantly performed to prevent crashes (servers design not mine)
You just happened to join in that small delay the server has in asking and doing.
The player left, you joined the server processed the command queue.

That would make sense... kicking a client instance.

My stats in my sig also said Position: banned which was kinda freaky
