Our Server - update - news

1) We have met some really, really nice new people in the last week. I look forward to meeting more as we rebuild our DOD Community.

2) I moved DODs to our new server box it is currently on 63.113.60.4 but I may experiment with other IPs now that I have some options. I also have the option now to have more than one IP on One box... that is cool...

3) I'm planning to experiment a bit with our DODs server so it may change IP Addys over the next week or so, but before I send you guys out all over the Internet recruiting and pimping our server I want to finish tweaking it, adding the best plugins, offering the most features, etc. and also deciding on a final IP Addy for it.... I am spending a ton of time on our server and hope to get it to where we all want it to be soon.

4) I may try some new IPs for our DODS server this week, so look for me on STEAM and/or check back here frequently. In the past I have found that some IPs are "magic" and list higher in people's server browsers than others, so I'll keep experimenting until we find the best one for us. I now have 5 IPs to select from, so let's see which one works the best !!

Update on the update....

I need a group of you to help me test out our server on all 5 of our IPs.

This may take place over several nights...

We will start on one IP, then all move in mass to another one. I'll jot down detailed notes and we will ultimately decide on a permanent home for our new DODS server...

Sounds like fun anyway !!

Update on update of the update.....

OK, I have done some quick testing this AM, and I think I see how to get our .4 server to show up a little better in their Master Browser...

Let's get as many people today playing as possible, and see how we do tonight.

Remember this server has only been up since Sat Night, so it is still very New... Be patient and don't get discouraged.

And it is an older game so we will have to work to get people to choose us over their more familiar servers. As good as Cain's Servers are once we get them here it should be easy to keep them coming back. Most players like to have on major server that they can call home. We can be their new home. Be friendly, talk to them, tell them good job when they do something noticeable. Capping flags, defending flags, nade kills, rushing and great teamwork are just some of the things you can do to help.
We also have have had quite a few of the old DOD Regulars come back as soon as they heard we were back.
