I think it has an interesting storyline and I like the ship combat demos I've seen, but it being an MMO is a deal-breaker.

If it were a SP game, I'd probably think strongly about it.

I love Star Trek and always have and I really like the look of the game. Here's the BUT, I hate online games that charge, I have never used them and never will. I refuse to pay a monthly subscription to play a game online.

With that said, it really upsets me to think they might do this game like WoW and others for a fee based online play.

As someone who's played MMOs in the past, I understand why there is a fee. You can't be running so many public and massive near-100% uptime servers without some continual form of income.

Regardless, I am VERY interested in this, and that scares me. I've been addicted to MMOs in the past. My WoW addiction was pretty bad at some points, but at the same time I had 4 other people in the same house fueling it.

I can't pass this up though! It's STAR TREK!

I'll probably give it a whirl. I played MMOs from 1996 (when they were MMORPGs hehe) until about 2007, and at times pretty heavily (DAOC).

We have a close knit group of great MMO players who my wife and I have gamed online with since 2001, and we typically pick up games like this as a group. Knowing 2 of the people are ST fans, I think we'll at least do the 30 day trial period.

Ditto. Tried it once with Star Wars Galaxies. Had fun for the few months I played it but trying to get them to stop charging my card was a huge hassle. I had to get American Express involved to put a stop to it.

The sad part though Rand....is that its not 2 weeks STRAIGHT I thought that as well but it is only a few days here and there...tommorrow is last day of closed BETA though and the servers will be up so make sure you try it out before 3PST (I think thats when it ends)
