I'm finally playing the original now, probably will finish before release of the sequel but I may actually let it wait a bit to pick it up. Avoids burn out of the same sort of game (though it should be different enough), leaves me plenty of time for other games including Bioshock 2 and FF 13, and saves a good chunk of change in the short term having to pick up those other AAA titles.

Finally, waiting on Mass Effect 2 lets us see if Bad Company 2 is any good, and if Cain will run it. That's another $50 to have to shell out around the same time. After a year of nothing good on the PC except Dragon Age, it'll be like money evaporating out of our pockets.

Preordered it yesterday. Early birthday present to myself.

This and bad company beta should keep me plenty entertained over next month.

I'm sort of digging how Shepherd is apparently the only human in the galaxy who knows anything about how to do pretty much anything in ME 1. That annoying Admiral keeps sending me on little missions because I'm the only dude around who can do the job.

Why doesn't he just resign and make ME admiral already?

Friggin downgraded graphics to work on Xbox... It looks as ugly as all the other ported games. Kinda sad when PC has the potential to photo-realism.

Uh, dude...this STARTED as a console game. It was ported to the PC.

That's what I'm saying. It was made for the Xbox, therefore the graphics are low compared to- let's say- Crysis.

I really wish people everywhere would stop fussing over graphics all the time.

Sure, Crysis looked amazing, but it was a pretty mediocre game.

Mass Effect however was great all-around. Sure, doesn't "look as good" but I definitely had a lot more fun playing it.

Sigh, was trying to replay real quick through first one so I could load it onto me2. I died fighting Benizia and apparently my last save was just getting to the vehicle to go to the compound...

Don't have the heart to do it now.

Oh; this wasn't clear the way you worded it.

My guess is that Crysis is more powerful than even ME2 in terms of shear graphic ability. There's a reason why it's still the go-to benchmark test for graphics cards. ME and ME 2 are optimized for what they are (pretty well) and have different engines.

I haven't played GTA4 on the PC (the first GTA3+ game that I didn't have on PC), but it looks superb on the PS 3. The PC can go even beyond that, but it wasn't really necessary for that game. I don't think there are many differences in something like Arkham Asylum in any version--we're at a point now where the developers aren't taking fullest advantage of PC hardware because it's not worth it to them financially and most PC gamers wouldn't have say, DX11 and 2GB cards yet to go too far beyond what developers are getting out of the 360 and PS 3. Don't forget, this is about the point in the console cycle where they've finally figured out how to begin tapping the full power of the console engines.

And I agree with Tighlon on graphics lust. This forum is the second place in the last week I've seen a reference to the Source engine looking dated. So? It does the job JUST fine for me, and HL2 is still great to play if one wanted to go back to it. My favorite pc game ever remains Master of Magic--not exactly state of the art, and Deus Ex is second place.

Well someone should... Hopefully BFBC2 or the new MOH will have something worthwhile for PC.
