Bioshock is going to be a better SP experience. Its more atmospheric, more engaging and more unique than Crysis. Both are good games though. One thing to note on Bioshock, it is a bit more gruesome and disturbing than Crysis, so if your son will be primarily playing it, Crysis is probably the better choice.
But if you haven't gotten Bioshock, I wholeheartedly suggest you check it out....at least the demo
GoW was fun (on the X360), but I thought it was kinda short. Maybe the PC version with the added chapter justifies it along with the additional precision of the mouse. I'm staying away from GoW mainly due to the fact that online play is limited again to Games For Windows Live Pay-for-Play garbage. Same goes for Halo 2 PC
True, there is a patch (unofficial, otherwise known as hack) that allows you to run Halo 2 in XP. Doesn't let you play online though, and honestly, Halo 2 is all about MP....single player game is pretty weak by comparison.
