Watched some of the trailers at Steam. It seems very Half-Life-ish... is that an accurate statement? If so, I know I'll love it.

Yes and no. You get go anywhere, whenever you want. No such thing of Linear here.

Fallout is not as linear as HL2 is and the environment is much more interactive.

Fallout is an RPG with lots of shooting, half-life is a shooter with puzzles. Both are great for what they are but they have a VERY different feel.


Anyone have the Weird Wasteland perk? I got a pretty good chuckle from finding the charred bodies of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

I have it and spoiler alert, it is the ONLY way to get the alien weapon. Oh and it's a trait, not to be confused with a perk.

Man, this game is even bigger than FO3--love it! I'm moving from an endgame save through the major endings, and it's taking at least 2-3 hours per path at the last branch point. Anyway, took a couple of pictures today that I like--my hotel room, where you can see what I collect, and a lovely collection:

I also think it's a bigger game the FO 3, every time I think I'm making progress I activate a few more quests and a few more hours pass by. BTW nice collections Rand.

Intact garden gnomes are surprisingly difficult to find in this one.

I've now seen the major endings, and I'm playing around with getting booted from the game floors of the casinos.

Accounting for the time for each path to endgame, I'm probably at about 70 hours. That is not only bigger than FO 3 in terms of shear time, but it's also likely the most I've put into any role playing game ever--or at least since Oblivion, and there much of my time was with the larger mods like MMM and OOO. They just don't make them like this any more.

I have over 80 hours in and I just reached the max level last night. SPOILER WARNING So far I have not complete any main quests past Ring-A-Ding-Ding but I killed Caesar while completing a Wild card quest along with Oh My Papa, I hope I didn't screw up the story line by doing this.

*SPOILER* You will end up fighting his 2nd in command, who is a bad ass. Or you can negotiate with him IF your speech is at 100.

Caesar's a slaver anyway, no big loss.

Duke, what do you do for the other hours in there? I hit level 30 around hour 42 because I do every quest I come across before the main quest line.

I have been doing every quest I run across but I don't finish them if they go off to a different part of the world, this has resulted in many active quests but not all of them were complete. Now that I have been all over I'm finishing them off.
