I was in it hacking away last night. Loving it so far, models seems to be improved over DA:O the addition of high res textures is welcome sight. Flemeth (or what ever her name was) received a huge makeover and looks seriously badass now. Combat seems to me to be a bit faster now, or maybe its the animations?
Although with my current rig with i7, dual 460GTX I only get about 10-20 FPS according to Fraps in very high video settings. But run it just fine in high settings with 35+ FPS.

I'm about 2:20 in. The only thing (and I mean only) that I don't like about it so far is that I can't zoom as far out with the camera as in DA:O. They fixed everything that was broken in the demo--companion pathfinding and camera work had some issues there.
Runs pretty well, but it does have the same problem DA:O did in very large fights. It will bog down a bit. But I've got everything set to high.
I'm not far enough in to see how many goodies can be worn by companions, but most store goods can ONLY be worn by the player character. That's a tad limiting, but it's too early to decide either way.
I think it's going to be pretty dang good. But since DA:O is, with the exception of Oblivion, the best RPG of the last decade (at least), it would get to "pretty dang good" just by doing half of what DA:O did.

I'd say DA:O is 'one of the best' in the past decade personally. I'm kinda personal to mass effect.Delivering bacon goodness one round at a time.

A good decision, considering I was level 34.

I stand corrected, you cant replace their armor. Only upgrade it which it what those small slots are below the armor. I didnt even realize I had done it after giving Betheny a potrait of mother.
I was wondering if those little slots under the companions armor in the Inventory screen are just there for looks?
Still havent found an NPC to set runes into items...

I just do well with RPGs in general, and I am an explorer. My main character was a dual wield badass, I usually had Morrigan for sheer power, Leliana for thievery, and Alistair for humor. The level I reached also counts much of the DLC (didn't get all of it).
Buffs, especially elemental weapons, are very helpful before big battles. The only companion triggers I use are heals--self and ally. Use the pause key a lot to set their orders so they don't do something really stupid like waste a massive area effect spell on one guy.
Plaztic--the dwarves from DA:O are standing in one of the squares in Hightown. Enchantment!

Alustair has some good attack moves, especially once you open up his specializations, and he got the second best set of gear and all the good shields. If you're worried about health use some runes and health gear on him.
I just didn't like the elf, qunari, or Shale at all. I don't even remember the first two names, and I found Shale to be almost completely useless. For the qunari, two-handed style is too slow. It does some good damage on the hits, but you should see the crazy gap in damage potential between a sorta-maxed dual-wielder and the best two-handed guys. Not even close.
