With the game just around the corner I thought it was time for posting the first review:

LOL ya I just finished DA2, still got to play ME2. Started Witcher a while back but got sidetracked and never went back to it.

My plate is clear for Witcher 2, as I finished Assassin's Creed yesterday (one of the 4 pc games that have been on my to-play pile for some time). The only problem is I found out today that Steam isn't allowed to pre-load it, so between pre-loading and decrypting a MASSIVE game (10 gigs compressed, from what I see), I may not even be able to play tomorrow.

As far as some boards tell, there's no censoring in the game this time.

Yeah...definitely no censoring. Some female nudity in the first 2 minutes.

So, the 20 or so minutes I've been able to play so far are great. The only problem so far is that I found out too late that a) this will import Witcher 1 saves, and b) you have to go through a VERY specific process to get it to import said saves due to a bug in the import process.

I had to bloody reinstall all 15 GB of Witcher 1 to move from the final autosave of the game through a specific doorway and manually save at that point to have Witcher 2 pick up and successfully transfer the save.

I expect this to be fixed in a very early patch, but talk about a truly annoying experience. I had to wait more than 3 hours to reinstall The Witcher Enhanced for what amounted to 5 minutes of trial and error to get the right save imported. This was after a 3+ hour download of Witcher 2 running while I was at work.

I like the game a lot. Still a bit confused about the GUI.
Pressing the "Y" key to identify items really gets on my nerves.

I won't bother importing an old save game.
Need to finish ME 1, but this game is too good stay on the shelves.

This is really a great game, even considering the absolutely punishing difficulty of the battles in the first 10 levels. I'm liking the open nature, and one can get a hint of what they're likely to miss with the quest branches and going with different actions. Also liking just walking around listening to the citizens and soldiers talk, some really funny stuff there. Came across one woman just complaining about her hat after she ran under a roof to get away from the rain. I think the drain from the roof was dumping water on her.

Definitely one of the best RPGs in some time. Better than Dragon Age 2, almost as good as Dragon Age Origins, roughly in the same vicinity as Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and a bit better than the Mass Effect series to date. Makes me want to track down the english translations of the books.

Still have a chunk of Chapter 2 to finish and whatever comes after, with about 26 hours put in I think.

Phew. - With ME1 + 2 finished I can get to the witcher more closely soon.

Just found out that it uses fmod as audio middleware. Same as my little radio app.

Have you already downloaded the free DLC content yet?

It's probably your game got corrupted and needs to be redownloaded. I don't think I'll ever see a patch that big in my life time.

Dangit. I was wanting to play, now it'll be another 2.5 hours. I need to go find some patch notes.

Yeah this patch is something crazy. I left my comp for 15 minutes thinking it would be done, only to return and see 46% done...wtf.

And this game is very hard in the beginning levels. Battles are more hit some guy then run, then hit some guy. I don't think I used any other sign other than quen till recently.

My patch failed!

It's giving me error messages that numerous files were unable to load in the cooked pc area. Damnit.

EDIT: uninstalled, now re-downloading the bloody 16 GB game in the hopes that it will work again. I think it's because I had some connection issues while it was sucking down the 9 gig "patch." Argh.
