    Steam Winter Sale 2014 Damages

Well, since I like to know what everyone picked up on Steam's major sales, I thought I'd see if anyone participated this year. Here are my pick-ups and damages:

    Divinity Original Sin
    Ultimate General: Gettysburg
    Wasteland 2 - Classic
    How to Survive
    Hearts of Iron III
    Limbo
    The Binding Of Isaac
    Hammerwatch
    Europa Universalis IV
    Euro Truck Simulator 2
    SUBTOTAL 76.49 USD

For the above, I put $50 cash from Christmas gifts into a Steam card and bought a second one from ATM cash for $20, so not much damage to the credit card for a ton of quality.

I also went looking for deep discounts. Each of the ones below was under a buck, with a couple under 20 cents. I've already put enough time into 3 of these to get about an hour of enjoyment for every 50 cents I spent.

    Bad Rats: the Rats Revenge
    Toki Tori
    Defy Gravity
    LYNE
    Marlow Briggs
    Draw A Stickman: EPIC
    Squishy the Suicidal Pig
    SUBTOTAL 4.43 USD

Finally, I picked up the following today on the 85% discount:

    Carpe Fulger Bundle 9.99 USD
    Chantelise-A Tale of 2 Sisters
    Fortune Summoners
    Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Total: 20 games. $90.91, or $40.91 out of pocket.

    What did you all get?

    -Rand

P.S. I told the wife the other day that if movies had the same value/cost ratio as games, we'd only spend about 4 bucks total for most films we see in theaters. Wouldn't this be a lovely dream come true? 5-6 bucks to see Star Wars Episode 7 in 3D IMAX instead of the $42 it's going to cost....

I'm happiest when Steam games aren't on sale. I already have too many I've never played. Latest sale:
    - Rise of Nations: Extended Edition
    - Skyrim
    - Saints Row IV

Each was about $5. Maybe I should play them before PCs become obsolete.

Start with Skyrim. That'll occupy you for 100-200 hours or so.

Oh, I forgot I also won Fallen Enchantress in their gem auction.

If Skyrim was $5 then you got the best value for a game maybe ever. 200 hours is a good guess. Start hammering iron ingots into iron daggers.

I completely forgot to check. I would have picked up Wasteland 2 if it was a good deal.

SKYRIM !!! I am hooked. I'm making like 20 steel armor plates at one sitting, then selling them back to the smithy - rinse, repeat. I started playing my usual class for these games, a battle mage, but soon grew weary of the spells and switched to the bow. Nothing is as much fun and satisfying as a 2X sneak attack arrow to the head from 50 yards away on a completely defenseless bandit.

I'd say 100-200 hours at the LEAST can be played in this game, and I know people that have 400+ hours like it was nothing. I played a good 50 hours so far without ANY mods, but when I discovered the mods it added so much more to make the game even more enjoyable. I run only around 12 mods right now, bu they all enhance the gameplay significantly.

              Best mods to add:

SkyUI - hands down #1. Adds a more manageable inventory system, and makes it look less console-y.
Wearable Lanterns - adds a wearable lantern to your armor. Damn dungeons are too black, IMO.
Skyrim HD Enhanced - adds enhanced 2K graphics for Towns, Dungeons and Landscape
Skyrim unofficial patch - patches several quest bugs and glitches in the game
Ultimate Followers Overhaul - fleshes out the games various followers, adds useability to any followers.

What a great game ... I get lost almost every evening now, trying to finish just one more quest (and keep both my horse and follower alive).
I haven't even started the Dark Brotherhood storyline yet, but people tell me it is much more fun to do that than the main storyline.
Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

Damn I missed the whole sale. Being junior on the AA seniority list had me working long stretches.

Skyrim rocks! I have just over 500 hours and did two complete characters. The first was a goody two shoes, and the second one wasn't. This allowed me to complete the thieves guild and Dark brotherhood quest lines. You will enjoy that one.

I bought wasteland 2 when it was released, the first one was the first game I became addicted to so I just had to have it. Sadly, though, I just cant play it for too long. Le t me know what you think of it Rand.

Enjoy the games, other then the one I mentioned, I don't recognize any others.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
