When you walk up to a ladder you'll see a little "climb" Icon. Thats when you press your "USE" key. Its set to "F" by default. Use the same key to open and close doors and enter/exit vehicles.
I have yet to join a server where people are actually playing the game. Instead most people are just wandering around looking at all the pretty stuff and figuring out how to use all the gadgets and what not. There is a pretty steep learning curve. The game is choppy for most people as well so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
Let me know what you get I'd be interested in comparing specs

BTW how do I pull up my FPS on the crytek engine (which I loved in Farcry but the net code sucked)
In Far Cry, you would use the parameter r_displayinfo = 1 to display HUD stats. Maybe it is the same for Crysis.
When I run the Crysis Beta V3, I use the video detect button in the System Settings portion of the game lobby. After scanning, this returns a recommendation of medium settings. I use these settings. Here are my rig specs.
