Fallout 3!

Fallout 3 in my hands ... reading the manual and I got my first HUGE disappointment ....

It looks like the controls are locked in a WASD config ..

I ..... HATE being forced to use WASD !!!!!

You guys know why I NEVER played BF2 ?? Because EA screwed up the movement config and did not allow both the keyboard and the mouse to share movement bindings. I have a VERY odd movement config, (Z-strafe left,X-back,C-strafe right, right mouse-fwd, left mouse-fire) so this just kills the game for me before I even play it.

I've decided to buy a Belkin Nostromo N52 and be done with it. I just can't enjoy WASD in a game .. my hand cramps up in 20 minutes tops.

I can assure you, they are NOT WASD. I remap my keys to EDSF, and it works just fine in Fallout 3.

I've decided to buy a Belkin Nostromo N52 and be done with it. I just can't enjoy WASD in a game .. my hand cramps up in 20 minutes tops.

Before I got to the end of this psot i was going to mention the N52. Enjoy

Well, tried WASD for the night just to at least play the game. I had patched it using the latest patch, then it crashed as I went to meet the Overseers daughter once all Hell broke loose. Done for the evening now ...

Going to look for a deal on the Nostromo and save my fingers the hassle.

Dude..without even reading the rest of your post...I have to say that you can plug in your XBOX 306 controller and it will allow you to play normal that way too. SO you get the benefit of playing both ways...How's that for playing the game 6 times through...3 times for good, nuetral and evil on keyboard and another three on controller...WHAT UP!

N52te, baby !!! Its at Amazon for $52, so I'll order it tonight. I initially blanched at the price of it, but its very cheap at 'Zon.

I have a Saitek keyboard that lights up, so it only makes sense to get more LEDs, doesn't it ?

That al sounds good to me. I have been using my N52 since UT2K4 and it's still going strong. It's well worth the $$.

More crashes .. crashing every save point and won't go for more than 2 minutes without bombing.

I looked at the error log and it references an Asaudio.ax file, so I googled that and found that both Oblivion and Fallout 3 will crash if you have the Arcsoft Media Converter installed, which I do for my MP3 player ...

resolution: Uninstall the Arcsoft software ! Back to the game I go !

Technical issue:

NPC speech does not play for me. I assumed it was supposed to be that way, but I can't remember if Oblivion did this or not. I looked at the Wiki for FO3, but it didn't address the issue.

Edit: by NPCs, I mean EVERYONE in the game.


Edit 2: Working ... the dialogue branch is broken when I plug my mic in. When I'm running on speakers, its fine. I had read that you need to set it from 5.1 to stereo to fix this, so I guess that's what I need to do for now.
