    My Vision of Fallout

Only speculating, but is this an RPG that takes place in the future or post-apocolyptic?

Kind of like Shadow Run or Metal Gear?

I opted out of SO many RPG's due to the fact I got sick of the whole "Troll/Dragons/Knights" genre, since every RPG they come put with is Fantasy RPG

I've been looking for a game like this if it is what I think it is.

It is indeed post apocalyptic, set in the year 2020 while the apocalypse took place around 1950 (I believe).

Think of it this way E.T. - You're Mad Max. Remember the big ugly guy in the 2nd Resident Evil movie? The one with the mini gun? There's about a thousand of those things running around. Then wrap it up in a nice Oblivion wrapper and you got Fallout 3.

in additin to what everyone else has said i would just add that the freedom in this game is amazing. You can play this game 10 different times through and each time could be different.

Actually, I think it's set in 2277, after a nuclear war wiped out civilization in 2077. The manual says something about how it's a parallel world to ours, where the culture of the 50s prevailed, up to and including the futuristic devices from 50s sci-fi. You'l see robots that look like Robby, and all sorts of cool ads and products inspired by the 50s.

              **High Fives Tony**

You are dead right on so many things here.
And the fact that this is different.

You are roaming around a huge map, and just doing simple things like exploring burned out homes comes up with "gifts" from the game.

Example- I have played MANY hours on this game already, yesterday I found something called "Stealth Boy". Hysterical- you put this thing on and you are invisible to everything around you except robots.

Anyways- the number of funny easter eggs, the music, the AI, I can go on and on. But this game is the Game of the Year in my opinion.

I cant wait until the improved content, add-ons and user created mods start flowing.

Rand has the setting perfect. And the Stealth boy is from fallout 1, and its cool they have it in here also. I cant wait to be able to walk around in power armor and watch bullets and punched just bounce off of me.

Stealth Boy may not be all it's cracked up to be. The one time I used it was to break into the Brotherhood Outcast's fortress by stealing one of their keys. I didn't get caught, but as soon as I go in the building, the guys inside start lighting me up with minigun lasers.

                  I haven't used it since.

Lol, that must have been funny though. Sneak in only to open the door to a firing squad. I remember in Fallout 1 if you saved and loaded the game with the Stealth boy on, the Stealth boy would turn into a motion detector and you would permanently be invisible unless you found a new Stealth boy and turned it on then off. Yay for old game glitches.

well you gotta still be sneaking when you use it.
Unless there is a bug, I havent had a problem with it yet.

It' single use unfortunately though- and I have found 4 of them so far.

Aww... it used to be unlimited use but it took up the space in one of your hands.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
