Administrative Powers Take A Little -TOO- Seriously

I let the occasional one slip myself, and I can deal with others doing that. A sh*t or d*mn usually.

A few weeks ago there were a couple of players that were just way out of line with their language, considering about 30 minutes prior my daughter was watching me play.

Crap, there wasn't an admin on my team to be found... so I in game texted an admin on the other team to ask him to come to our team. That's all I told him, didn't tell him anything else.

About 15 seconds after the admin joining my team he kicked both of these guys off, it didn't take him long to see that these guys were WAY out of line. The kicked players then went and changed their steam names and got back on the server... the admin kept up with them and kicked them again. And again... And again... .

All this time the admin was kept away from his game play pwning other CLR's and having fun. I have tremendous respect for the admins here and have never seen any of them abuse their powers in the 4+ years I've been getting pwnded here.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Well let me jump in here one last time.

We have the best Admins of any server or game community anywhere in the world.

Being an Admin is a HUGE PITA, but they do it because they love the place.

They are not lurking around waiting to kick or ban people, and we never take actions without careful thought.

This is not complicated at all:

My scrolling rule says;

"Cursing, cheating or asshatting will get you banned."

That seems pretty simple to me.

I know I have not edited the MOTD since we loaded HLStatsX, and that was on November 14th as I recall.

I disagree with the heavy handed insinuation.

Go on over to some of the other servers and use the word "douchebag" and you will get kicked by a power hungry admin that has been at his job only 5min.

Under the best circumstances, I have heard someone say "!#@$%" followed up with an "oops! sorry"

Under the most liberal circumstances, I have people ignore the rule, and say "!#@$%" every few moments.

Unfortunately for you, Rand is the most patient admin of the bunch, and if he says it was too much, then it probably was.

Sorry I stuck my nose in here, but I know what you mean about hyperactive admins, and that just doesnt exist at Cains Lair really.

Last point, hosting your own games mean you control the sandbox, and can say how people build castles with your sand. If you dont like the way Cains Lair builds castles, go try one of the other servers-- after you get tired of the kitty litter in there, cmon back and I'll frag the "!#@$%" outta you

I have always found this to be a pretty simple to understand rule. And I find it pretty rude when people play that "what do you mean, I don't understand" game. They are BY FAR the most lenient understanding people I have found in game servers in some time.

Seems to me that if you get punished for something on a CLR server, then that equals a life ban on most others.

I curse like a sailor(I'm in the Army ) and I am an admin. Have been for quite sometime now or some years now lol. Now granted I don't use my mic very much if at all. But even when I have I follow a simple rule. If I don't want to hear it then others prolly don't. I hate listening to people swear over the computer cause usually they are whining about something that is there own fault or they are accusing someone of cheat or otherwise just yelling and being annoying. Plus there is a lot of kids who play here. And a lot of them believe or not is the children of admins.

Play the game, have fun. Haven't heard this one in a while but it comes to mind.

I cuss a lot, and I let the occasional d*mn or sh*t slip when I am playing. From my experience, the admins do not generally say anything about that as long as it isn't excessive. They will say/do something when someone starts cussing at another player. IMO this is the way it should be.
