Welp about half the wii top games are virtual console games we played like 10 years ago, i think its pretty clear which system offers the widest variety and best games. I mean come on the best wii game ever was a ps2 port from like a year ago. Thats not saying much for the wii.
No doubt. You do know that RE4 was a Nintendo Gamecube exclusive before it hit the PS2 right? That's why it got "ported" over.....its essentially the same thing with motion sensing enabled.

Regardless, theres just a lot more that interests me on the 360 than on the Wii. Not to mention a lot of the same properties on the 360 and PS3 get a cheap, stripped-down shell of a game on the Wii due to it's power limitations (SC:Legends and RE:UC).

Well I have 360 and I was thinking about getting WII but none of the games really tickled my fancy so I decided not to get one. I have to say I love Live and the controllers are perfect for my hands

Here is a new wii game coming out

        http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3d...led_videogames

now i know wii isn't trying to do forza graphics but this looks like a n64 game rather than a brand new wii game. Its sad to see devs rear end games just because they wanna rush out a wii game.

Well, for one thing, unlike some, I don't let gaming sites dictate to me what is good or not.

For another, to what degree does bias come into play for either set of rankings? How do you know the wii editors aren't just anal retentive, while the 360 editors could be a bunch of Microsoft shills? You don't.

As far as the virutal console games are concerned, I'm guessing those reviews are re-dos from when they were released? Because I'm looking at a sub-9 for Ocarina of Time, which was rated about as close to perfect by most sites as console games get when they are reviewed.

Sorry didnt mean to hurt your feelings, Maybe i shouldn't have shown the obvious. But game review sites aside (even if gamespot is considered to be one of the most unbiased sites on the web) there is ample people here who own a xbox 360 and vouch for the games on it vs those here with a wii and dont use it.

Oh, don't worry, you didn't hurt my feelings. All you're doing is showing why that silent minority of Wii fans you complained about earlier didn't bother posting. They're showing more restraint or brains than I did, and knew that somehow you would all turn it back around into a 360 fan-fest and of course, go back to the ratings again, or the graphics again, as you always do, while ignoring other viewpoints on gameplay and irrelevance of ratings.

By the by, "considered to be one of the most unbiased sites on the web" by who?

Just because the other 9 Wii voters in this thread don't feel like arguing with you doesn't make their viewpoints any less valid. As to your point of the people who own a wii and don't use it anymore vs. those supporters of 360 games, in many cases it's one and the same--it's Thrashdragon, and it's you. Carbonfire doesn't have a Wii, and the others posting about liking 360 don't have enough information here to tell one way or the other.

Two final notes regarding 360 games: I certainly won't argue with you about the available library. But as you yourself pointed out, it's 2 years old. Most of the highest ranked games you posted were released after the first year. Time does make a difference and present an advantage. Let's see what Mario Galaxy pulls in next week, and where Wii stands on games next year, and see if anything is different. If it fails, it fails.

Second, and this was a point I raised in passing but that you missed: where's the Xbox exclusivity? Most of the games that are being talked up, and which have the highest ratings, I can already play on my PC, or I can play soon. And my pc is good enough to play them at least as well as the 360 right now, with a better control system for many of them.

You can't say that for the exclusives on the Wii, which are truly that: exclusive.

I dont have to bother quoting you since your post is right above mine.

Do you even bother to read what i post? Quote me where i complained. I just pointed out that there was votes yet no posts supporting it. Did you even read the orig post where he clearly wanting feedback from people about the xbox 360?

as far as the other 9 voters, what viewpoint do they have thats so valid? I seen 2. one that hates the 360 because its microsoft the other is you who has made next to no valid points as well as questioning respectable review sites as being biased.

But funny how i didnt even make the orig post that you clearly didnt even read. Why dont you jump on him for wanting to sell his wii? Or why not jump on him for considering a 360 instead of some 3 grand pc.

But whatever..... instead of trying to take cheap shots at me why dont you try answering the first post in the thread or atleast pretend to.

Deadly, to get back to the point, my first post in this thread answers your question from my perspective. Stick with the Wii, especially if you have a pc that can handle current games or expect to get one soon.

I don't know what pc specs you have, but with a Core 2 Duo/8800 level pc, you'll be able to play most of what you would want to play on the 360 simultaneously, sometimes before, or within a year or so. Meanwhile, the Wii is the only place to play some of the best franchise games.

Just for the record, Cruisin's completely awful graphics are not due to the Wii's limitations. That's just a poorly made game. The Wii is capable of much, much better than that. I am honestly surprised Nintendo is letting Midway release that pile of crap on their console.

I have nothing against the Wii, Rand. I'm just disappointed in the dearth of decent games for it at this point in its lifecycle. There are, quite frankly, not enough decent games for it right now for me to recommend it to anyone...bear in mind one year ago I would have made the same statement about the 360. All console libraries mature with time, and for me, the 360 currently has the most interesting library.

I haven't written off the console by any means, and am looking forward to both rail shooters and Mario Kart. The motion controls are a great innovation and I look forward to a third party hopefully stepping up and doing something with them...because Nintendo can't carry the console by itself, they release their titles too rarely and too infrequently.

The Wii is like everything else that is revolutionary (wasn't that its original name, the Revolution?)...it takes time for it to mature. The Wii is very new. Companies need to adapt to the system and work on new game designs.

Its normal that in its infancy, games look, well, like kid's games. They are trying to figure out gameplay. Gameplay is key to a game's longevity. Graphics are just candy, that unfortunatly, people tend to rate at a higher level than gameplay.

Comparing a console that is a few years old, mature, running well, with a 2 year old game library, all build on game systematics that have been around since, well, the Atari, you could only expect that its library is more extensive and interesting that a gaming system that is unique.

In 4-5 years from now (or probably sooner), I don't think many people will remember the Xbox 360. However, I feel that many people will remember the Wii and all the fun that went along the first time you tried it.

But to answer the direct question, if you are thinking of buying a console, then the 360 is a better bang for your buck than the Wii. I totally agree with Rand that if you have a good PC, you will get much more out of a Wii than out of an X360.

Comparing the two and saying one is better because it has more games or better games coming out is trying to compare apples and oranges. Its like saying they come out with a flying car, but its really slow, so today's cars are WAY better.

In terms of which has a bigger impact on gaming in general and has the most potential for the future, the Wii blows the x360 out of the atmosphere.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.

In 5 years people wont remember the wii or xbox 360 because new systems will be out. The average life span is 5 years. But how can you nock the xbox 360 then support pc gaming? they are both very simulair with pc basically having wow as its #1 game (the only mmo xbox 360 has is final fantasy 11).
But the biggest games on the pc are on the xbox 360 now. Bioshock, hl2 orange box, ut3 (is coming next year thanks to time exclusive deal with sony), cod 4 etc etc. Not to mention you dont have to worry about upgrades or DRM with the 360 versions. But reverse roles and the xbox 360 has a lot more games that come out on a reg basis that are good and are not on the pc.

I like my wii and the last game i bought for it was tiger woods 08 (and i hate golf). But outside of sports games i dont find the wii fun at all with its recent games. Yes mario galaxy and mario carts i wanna try but outside of those, there is nothing else. So the issue becomes what do you like? If you use the wii and play it almost daily, then by all means keep it. if its collecting dust and you think it was more a fad than you got bored with, sell it while it still has a high value on places like ebay. Its like pc gaming why buy a $500.00 video card if you dont plan to use it for gaming alot? Its like buying a new car and not driving it because its not fun to drive.

1 mans junk is another mans treasure. Only thing you should consider is if you find the wii to be fun or do you consider it to be a waste of money? Do you like games on another platform that appeal to you? Its your money and buy stuff you think makes you happy. Like ps3 you could have bought 11 months ago for 600.00 or now for 400.00 with a better game library. The wii will come down in price and will get better games for it one day. The xbox 360 is going into its 3rd year next year and games for it will only get better as well. Its natural evolution of game systems. All 3 systems will get better games as devs get use to the dev kit. But they will also come down in price. Right now there is no comparison and the xbox 360 has the biggest and best game library at this time (is that because it had a year head start? maybe but it doesnt change the fact that the xbox 360 has the largest attachment rate (games people buy) than the other systems.. But if no games on the 360 appeal to you then dont get it either. If you buy something hopefully you get your full value out of it.

Btw: how many people still have 5 year old gaming pc they use and havent upgraded at all in 5 years that still plays todays best games? Game consoles do that and games get better every year. In pc gaming your always looking at upgrades every year just to keep up.

Also if you look at EA`s (probably the worlds biggest game publisher) you can see where games are selling and on what system.

                          EA's Revenues By Platform Revealed

Fascinatingly, the company also provided numbers on the distribution of its software sales by platform in the 3 months ending September 30th, comparing it to the previous year.

Obviously, the company's mix depends to a certain extent on what major titles were released in that quarter, but some obvious next-gen trends were evident. Firstly, the revenue total in the 3 months to September 30th for the Xbox 360 was $218 million, up significantly from $166 million the previous year.

In addition, new line items were established for the Wii, which had $59 million of Electronic Arts games sold for it in the quarter to September 2007, and the PlayStation 3, which had just $17 million of revenue booked.

One notable change was for the PlayStation 2, which saw $73 million in game sales this quarter, compared with a massive $269 million in the previous year. Finally, the DS' game sales also surged, up from $14 million in 2006 to $47 million in 2007 - but the PSP's plummeted, down from $64 million in 2006 to $21 million in 2007.

My 4 year old AMD Athlon 2400 processor with 1g of ram and an ATI Radeon 9800Pro card, along with its 80g 5400 rpm hard drive runs TF2 pretty fine

UT3 laughs at me, but TF2 is totally playable

Now this is funny. I never played my gamecube and mainly played ps2. But now outside of sports games on the wii, i play gamecube games or VC games on my wii (cheap to rent GC games). Mariocarts for the gamecube is still pretty expensive. Its like $25.00. I actually bought that after i got the wii and didnt buy it when i owned the gamecube.

btw: if your a gamecube fan, you can get a used 1 for like 50 dollars at ebgames. Not a bad deal at all for a game system. I think used xbox is like 80. Now if you know how to add XBMC to xbox its one of the best dvd player multi media systems you can buy for the price. xbmc rocks!

Heh, you have almost the same system I do. My processor is a little faster and my video card is a little better (I can run UT3 well enough to get a decent framerate, but at the expense of prettiness). It rocks TF2 though.
