A question for my English friends

my wife watches a show on BBC America. in the show people are often talking about eating "budgies". I thought budgie was a kind of bird or the name of a rock band are you guys eating cute little birds or is budgie a slang for something else?

Yep, they're birds. My parents have one. Annoying little bitey critter. So if our friends across the pond are indeed eating them, then more power to 'em!

I think you may be talking about 'butties'. A butty is basically a sandwich. They even have regional specialities, the chip butty, the pie butty, the jam (jelly) butty.

What show does she watch, I think maybe the Royale family

Anyway, budgies are too expensive to eat and too many small bones
