I still have my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro.

I've been playing IL2 Sturmovik flight sim now for over 5 years.
The best controller I've had (until it broke) was the Microsoft FFB 2 IMHO, you may still be able to find on ebay. A few guys in squads use X52 but I cannot say anything for them or against them as I never owned one.
I do own a Logitec Extreme 3D Pro FFB for a back up but my son now uses, but I've been mostly using the past couple years is my CH Fighter Stick, throttle & rudder pedals. The stick is a replica of an F16 stick. CH has been very good to me with no problems and I highly recommend them. I know another reason I went with CH is their customer service and warranty. Check out their website.
I had those same pedals Sgt. Rock. They were great until I wore them out. At least my Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 still works.

I used an Extreme 3D Pro for flying in the BF series. It worked pretty well. Unfortunately, I can't use it along with my Nostromo N52. There is some conflict that causes the joystick to not function. I haven't used a joystick in a while.
My opinion: it isn't worth the money for the X52 unless you plan to use it a lot...
