ATI Radeon 4770 slated for release in May

This looks like a great card for under $99, and the performance seems to show it will beat the popular 4850 as well. It won't be a higher end card to be used with a 24" LCD, but for the budget gamer on a 19" LCD, this thing is golden.

Yea, after reading more of the (admittedly ugly) graphs, it looks like it will be at best even with the 4850.

It still opens up the possibilities of a highly OC'd model that would best the 4850 for a very low price. Think of a Palit Sonic Edition with high clock and memory speeds (keep in mind the card is 40nm with GDDR5 RAM too) and it could be picked up for under $90 after a rebate, and it looks very enticing to say the least.

I still want to own an ATI card, and I wish I would have bought one at some point for one of my boxes to support their efforts to put out a very competitive card.

I must admit i'm loving the price point. Also the fact that it's been given a dual slot cooler.

Let's just hope it's great at clocking like you say.
