    Graphics Messin' up, Flickerin'

When I get into any computer game Fallout even the browser based game RUNESCAPE

    I get this

I did update my drivers, but it still didn't help

I have a NVIDIA 6800GT video card Any clue?

    I'm running XP PRO

The only time I ever saw anything like that was when my 6800m went on my laptop. I think there is a chance that you will need a new one.

Only time I've seen it that was bad was when it happens occasionally, or right before my graphics card died horribly and I needed a new one. Was a 6800GS come to think of it. It suffered a bad death and wouldn't even run at all, let alone 3D stuffs.

Well, as long as I'm not gaming, I'm fine.

Give it a try Tony, in that case it could be heat. Or it could be early signs that the card is dying, as it loses 3d functionality. Cross your fingers and hope it's dust and heat, or you'll be looking for a new card.

well, I turned off the computer, and used some can air to clean out the dust...not seeing that issue anymore.

If it looses 3d funct. can I still use it in Windows?

I cleared things up about 95% of all that flickering. It KIND of does it a little bit though.

I guess that concludes its the dust?

Not really, like I said, Skud it was dust. All I needed was a can of air.

Keep your fingers crossed, it if was just heat/dust you're good. If the dust was just exacerbating an underlaying problem you might still need new hardware soon.

Ok, Evil_Tony. I was just thinking that if it still does that 5% of the time, as you said, that would be 5% more than I'd put up with...usually not a good thing when the cards start doing that kind of stuff, in my limited experience. I'm glad it worked for you.

Well, if I have to avoid BUYING something that COSTS money, and if I don't have to, then there's no need. I just can't afford stuff right now.

I understand. I've got an 8800 Gtx sitting around since my new build because things were starting to go wrong...happened shorty after a driver update...tried to roll it back and was still happening. I didn't mean to offend you with my first post, if I did. Was just giving opinion, as I said, based on my experiences. Sorry, man.
