    I would switch to win7.
Not because it's so great. It's just that Vista is so bad.
If you have below 4 GB Ram stick with XP.
    Just my personal opinion.

I could write an essay about it.
To put it into a nutshell:
          - performance is horrible
          - menus are spread like mines in a minefield. It means you need 3 times more mouseclicks to reach the same stuff under XP.
          - memory usage: the services loaded by default are wasting memory a lot. Even worse, even when the user is not needing them (DVD Burner, WiFI connection, indexing, etc,)
          - brainless DRM implementation
          - the UAC is nagging you constantly with useless warnings

^ only to mention a few.

This is the correct answer for me.

about the menus, this thin never bothered me. I dont see it as -
memory usage- like xp doesnt had bunch a useless services loaded? All windows have them.
Win7 have even worst DRM implementation.
UAC is stupid but u can disable it for 5 seconds.
              - performance is horrible - how so? I never noticed that.
