Ahhh you bought the kingston? The Kingston uses a bad JMicron controller that has stuttering issues that can't be fixed. That why i recommended the Crucial drive.

edit: Just done a little reading up. Apparently Kingston/Jmicron 'possibly' redesigned the controller and released a custom firmware to fixed the stuttering issues, however, the cache on the drive is far too low to fix the problem.

You may have got lucky.... but only time will tell.

I wish I could afford solid state memory...but I'll need to wait until it becomes more of the standard

          8 seconds for a boot?

I don't want to sound harsh but isn't that a bit slow?
A normal HDD is nearly as fast as that.

No it's pretty fast because by time a normal hd loads up and all the start icon the SSD is there instant, I have just got a Second SSD and I'm going to run them in raid

Wait, don't say 8 or 12 seconds. I want to hear the time it takes from your Power button TO a fully functional desktop (When wallpaper comes out). If you're computer boots in 8 seconds then please accept my marriage proposal.

                    Same here.

And as for fully functional. I'd go up until all your background and taskbar apps have loaded. Steam, AntiVirus etc etc

I dont have an SSD...but if I take into consideration Juneau's view of full boot, then I am looking at 15sec tops....

When I disable my Windows login screen, it is around 9 sec to boot into windows with desktop showing...to load all BG apps is 12-15sec

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
