    need a new monitor

Hey guys I am looking to get a new monitor. I currently have a 20" 1680x1050, and it is a decent monitor, but it doesn't support HDCP.

Here is what I would like:
    a. HDCP support
    b. 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200
    c. < $200

I found these two so far:
    Dell ST2410

    Asus VH242H

I haven't really been paying attention to monitors lately, so I'm not sure if there is anything better out there, or which of these two would be better. I am kinda leaning towards the Dell. Anyone have any other suggestion or an opinion on these two monitors?

EDIT: also, if I want to watch something that requires HDCP, does it matter what audio output I am using?

Ugh just saw that the Dell only has a 160 degree viewing angle... Makes me think I should get the Asus...

This is the one I just got and I love it. I don't know what HDCP is so I can't help you there.

How about you save a ton of money and buy AnyDVDHD. Removes that pesky HDCP.

        @Duke.

HDCP = High Bandwidth Copy Protection or something similar.

So the monitor has some sort of copy protection?

Yes. If the display is not HDCP compliant it will not work with an HDCP enabled source.

Are DVDs and Blue Rays such sources?

                  DVD no, Blu-ray yes.

Even when you have all HDCP compliant equipment there can still be issues. Mainly handshaking problems between standalone players and TVs.

I have a BR/HDDVD drive in my HTPC that i haven't used in roughly 7months. HDCP does and can go wrong in so many areas that most of the time AnyDVDHD is needed all the time whether you want to use it or not.

Directv has software that will allow you to watch programs recorded on your HD DVR on your computer. Unfortunately, your monitor has to support HDCP.

Just got this in my Overstock deals e-mail. Looks like it might be exactly what you are looking for, D..G, at a great price. I wish I wasn't so spent on cash already from Christmas, I'd probably get one of these for myself.

Hmmm looks like a good deal, but I have always been hesitant to buy refurbished stuff. Anybody have an opinion on that?

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
