Ok, I would consider myself intermediate with computers, but I haven't had much experience with video cards (I've only bought one, my current one).

So I read this article with the general gist of it being that the 8800GT is a better card than this 9600GT.

I was about to post a question about that, since I have been told to get an 8800GT a lot in the server chat, but the 9600GT's specs seem to be near identical. I was going to ask which I should buy, because if they're that close to each other in specifications, and the 9600 is that much cheaper ($250 vs $180), then I'd rather pay less, and maybe get two for SLI which from what I hear doesn't do much. :P

Someone who knows this stuff, please explain to someone who is not a total newb, but wants to learn, please and thank you!

Stock 8800GT vs. 9600GT, the 8800GT is between 7-27% faster at the 1600x1200 resolution, so it all depends on what display you are using.

That's really interesting and strange to say the least. Most motherboards bolt when the PCI-E bus is increased over 100MHZ, hence the PCI-E locking options.
