WOW, I thought Windows Vista was going too be the new kid on the block for some moons to come. Did not know that there was another platform coming out so quick. I wonder what Windows 7 will be like?

Windows 7 will ship in consumer and business versions, and in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

I don't understand why they just don't make it 64bit.

They want to hit the market of the many people on older machines that still only have a 32 bit processor but can still run the OS. It only makes sense to them as it's a greater market share they can potentially cover. I'd imagine that in another 10 years you might see OS's migrate to 64 bit only but I wouldn't bet on it even then.

Again....marketing. They can say....hey look guys, we have this one JUST for your business needs. And they can strip everything out for people who just want to be able to get online and still sell it for over enflated prices, make some versions above that and have it even more over enflated. It's all about marketing and getting as much money out of it as they possibly can. Why do you think they came out with XP Media Center after they started with Home and Pro instead of building on those platforms? An excuse to make more money.
