    Linux Users Unite!!!

I have been running Linux for about 2 years now (not exclusively) but I have finally got my distro to the point where I am "happy" with it. I'm running Fedora 8 on my Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop. I've included a screen shot of my desktop(s) and my config file for the Conky resource viewer...

    # - tail of /var/log/messages
    # - netstat connections to your computer

So any other Linux users out there???

    Yep

Although I'd much rather prefer a debian/ubuntu distro. Seems to me to be a much cleaner distro without a ton crap loading. I'm also a big FreeBSD user as well.

I just loaded up a friends laptop with Ubuntu 8.04 and was very impressed. Linux has come a long way

Microsoft should be afraid, very afraid.

How did you find Ubuntu for Laptop drivers? When I considered Ubuntu a while back it didn't have as many drivers for Wireless, cd/dvd, and card readers as other distros.

That's the funny thing. On a old dell laptop, maybe 2 or 3 yrs old, it picked up all the drivers with no problem. Plus I picked up a Dynex WLAN card and it picked it right up, all I had to do was plug in the SSID and was online in a snap.

I haven't tried it with VPC 2007 yet to see if they fixed a mouse issue with it, but that's next.

I'm actually really impressed with the Ubuntu server offering. It just installs what you want and no more. Very stripped down and fast.
