What do I need?

Okay, those who know me know 2 things. I struggle switching the PC on and I play a mean game of BF2 (mmmm, may reinstall this week to limber up).

Anyway my original plan was to buy a new PC but as all but the graphics card have been replaced in the last 9 months (8800GTS) I was wondering what ws the minimum spec graphics card I would need to play BF3. I can spend upto ?200 (without needing a permission slip from Mrs jaspurr )

I am sooo looking forward to playing with old friends, new friends and on Cainslair.

I think the GTX 560ti video card will be suitable for your price range, I don't know much about the offering form ATI.

Here is an EVGA card that can be had for $204.00 USD with a MIR. I'm not sure what that equates to in pounds, euros or whatever currency you use but I'm sure its less due to the weak USD. If you don't want to overclock theses things yourself looks for an overclocked version.

I agree with Duke...the 560ti or if the pound is strong enough..the 570ti would be an excellent choice.

Seems the Battlefield games are CPU intense also. Don't know what processor you have. You may be able to get by if you overclock it a some if it's a bit older.

Many of us have played BF3 and we will all tell you BF3 is much closer to BC2
than it is to BF2.

I strongly advise you to get BC2, get your PC to run it optimally, and you will be ready for BF3.

If you hop into BF3 expecting a BF2 remake you will be disappointed.

Thanks Cain. I have come to realise there will not be another BF2 so I will just have to suck it up. I will only be able to play when home as I work 3 on and 3 off unless I can convince the company to upgrade the internet and buy a gaming PC. Well we have playstations and Wi's so why not a gaming PC.
