Yep, stating pc was the lead platform when it actually wasnt. Ridiculously slow release cycles on patches (my clients would kill me if i took as long as them). Still broken VOIP. I could go on for a while.

The financial success that comes from making a console game is was screwed PC games. You can re-skin a game and make hundreds of millions of dollars. The biggest problem with BF3 is, and most of you won't agree, are the unlocks and leveling up. Look at Unreal Tournament 2004. That game almost had a two year run here. No leveling up, no unlocks, maybe the same number of maps. I have like 1600 hours into that game. You didn't get points for healing tanks. You didn't get points for capping nodes. It was more about team win and nothing to do with any kind of personal gain. No medals, no ribbons, no ranks, no unlocks, no squads. And it was 100 times more fun. All these modern day hyper detailed robust FPS shooters with their MMO and RPG elements can not match the longevity of the older games. Because when people are leveled up and have unlocked all the weapons, they feel there is nothing left to do. You can fix the VOIP, you can fix weapon recoil, but none of that will fix this game.

Bring back BAD COMPANY! I felt that the storyline in BF3 was following Bad Company 2.

I just hope that they don't mess up the single player campaign like they did with this game.

So true Devilguns. Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat were all or nothing games. You won or lost as a team. As old as Counter-Strike is there are still a lot of people playing the game.

Same. Just to shoot and shoot again with little more than a win in the win column doesn't keep my interest...and then of course there are the times when you happen to be on a terrible team: at least with upgrades you can die for something.

for me its all about playing and chatting with people I know.
Its more about the people then the game. I can always play alone.

The tweaks in the guns don't bother me too much. You could have one weapons for each and I would be ok. I do like rankings though. I don't strive for it, but its a nice boost to the ego.

I do think VOIP would help with team work aspect of the game and it would also help communities like ours to recruit new members.

I think the point he is making is that it was more about the competition then getting unlocks and that is why it had such a long run.

Exactly my point. Now I'm not saying that everyone here is only playing for the unlocks. I'm just saying they are part of the problem with PC gaming today, specifically FPS. Games these days don't need long runs or have strong communities to make money. Fill in the blanks on that one.

i like 2142's method of unlocks. the best gun for a class wasn't far away, it was just in how you spent your points.

I agree. 2142 was the most fun for me with the lair. Especially since EVERYTHING worked right. And the Transport of Doom. Was so much fun.

Everything worked right?????????????? What fantasy world were you living in then?
Just one problem was the movement of the Titans caused horrible server lag and even crashes. It took them forever to fix it. And the only way they were able to do that was to make the Titans immovable.
