Interesting Video (Uses BF4 as Example)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMyliIAdwz8

I thought it was kind of interesting.

Some points are vulgar. Video is PG13 for audio, though M/T for the game content.
"You cannot have 'slaughter' without having 'laughter'"
"If I had wanted to show off, I would have been a porn star."
"I have a 9in. tongue and I can breathe through my ears."

EA really screwed Dice this time. They might sell the next few games, but I guarantee the sale loss is immense.

Want to know the worst thing of this? DICE will pay the price. If their IPs start to fall short of expected sales EA can close down the studio and distribute the games to their other developers (already happening with BF5!).

Video was interesting. His goal was to create customer dissatisfaction by demonstrating specific defects in game play. Will this video affect sales? No.

If BF4 had a direct competitor that was as fun and better designed, we would be playing that one instead. That is a serious flaw in his argument. He recommends waiting for release of a game that has all features functioning properly without frequent client or server crashes. Okay, he can do that. Meanwhile, everybody else will be playing a game that is good enough.

          Say what?!?!?!

I only watched about 5mins of the video. He says the game is constantly crashing, mine isn't. He says there is a lot of connectivity issues, I can't remember the last time I got disconnected from the server.

I wonder if he rants this way over the latest Windows release? My bet would be no.

As soon as I started to see the wiki overlays I thought I was watching a conspiracy video lol.

I think a lot of the complaints are made completely redundant by the fact that 95% of the video shows perfectly playable gaming.

Looking close at what he is talking about, I see the issues. That is why the video interests me. He sticks on a few key points that, I honestly thought, were just my age catching up to me finally in my skill/ability. When I play single player or LAN, those issues go away, and I am always left frustrated when I return to online play. The hit detection, the report of players, those are issues I have seen constantly since BFBC2, and have constantly complained about, but have no resolve.

The images that I thought were really interesting were the interpolate comparisons from Unreal Tournament. I don't know which exact version of UT that was, but that was Deck 16. I recall making that jump a lot. The different interpolate settings are drastic from 10+. At 100, it is nearly completely smooth. At 10... there are large gaps in the data.

I also found the random-trajectory of the projectiles interesting. I have noticed such things happening to my rockets and sniper rifles. I always thought it was maybe because I was moving/twitched when I fired. Watching him do the same, at a slower pace, indicates the issue I have seen multiple times. REALLY frustrating when you're trying to out-snipe someone.

Like Qic said - if there was a better made product of comparative gameplay - we would be playing that. Unfortunately, games tend to each have their "niche" and only one game typically fills that niche.

I do question the crashing/disconnect issues. I would counter-argue that most of those have been taken care of at this point. I am not having the issues I was the first couple of months now.

I actually watched a 30 minute video about a game I don't even play. He did start to get kinda wound up near the end. F-bombs started flying around.

This is where he got the UT 99 tickrate example images. It's from an old Unreal Admin tutorial on tickrate, ping and netspeed.

Only game I'll buy from EA, might be Titanfall, and even then, I might just wait it out till it's on sale.

Yeah, this is the only time I would consider paying for an EA game. Of course I also make sure that EA receives nothing out of it. Most of it goes to charity and the rest as tip for HB.

EA distributes both Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Both are superb series, and I wish someone would pry them away from EA so they don't inevitably ruin Dragon Age Inquisition and the next game in the Mass Effect universe.

I wasn't that happy with the last mass effect. Maybe my choices weren't that good. I got close to the ending and stopped before finishing.

I hope you at least made it to Earth with the fleet. If not, you missed the single best cutscene in gaming history. So badass.
